What RPM for a Perfect Launch
The important thing is to not be a wuss and keep your foot MASHED on the accelerator while you take off -- otherwise the turbo will spool down!!
Also when you make the 1-2 shift, slam it in there as hard as you can. Work out your right arm to improve your time. The faster you shift, the faster you go, right???
Start releasing the clutch AS you make the shift, not after!! Those few extra tenths of a second can mean a few feet on that pesky Honda!!

isnt it bad to hit the rev limiter? so isnt it bad to do a start useing that? and is like 4000 a good starting rpm for the stock tranny?

I usually have launched at 5,000 RPM where I would clutch in, put it in 1st at a full stop, rev it all the way up to 5 K RPM, and then just drop it and floor that baby! When I was learning and beginning, I would get a stinky clutch burning smell. Throughout time though, you'll get it right through practice. However, I don't do launches anymore. Too much wear and tear on the tranny that I don't need and the tires screech like krazy. I need to stay away from cops.

You guys that are launching at 4500-5000 rpms do you all drive WRX? What kind of difference would it be launching a 2.5RS since there will be no turbo to spool up. FYI I have never launched my car before and don't really plan to be doing that cause it can mess things up.
Assuming you're talking about at the tracks:
Stage first, & rev to 4-5K rpm. I usually feather it around there until the lights start going down. When the 2nd to last yellow light comes on, put the gas to the floor. When the last yellow light comes on, start slipping the clutch quickly. Slow enough to slip the clutch, but quick enough so you don't smoke your clutch all the way to the 1/8th mile mark.
Remember to keep it to the floor, as you won't come close to the rev limiter. You'll actually come up to around 6500, and when the clutch grabs, you'll be right back down around 5000.
It took me about 4 months to get this down consistently. I'm seeing very consistent .5xx reaction times and 1.7-1.8 60' times.

I'd think the launch would be the same for you as well. Once you get it down, you won't smell your clutch anymore, and you won't be banging the tranny at the start either. That initial grab in 1st and 2nd is where I keep hearing people have the most problems. Slip it off the line in 1st, and just be careful not to bang it too hard into 2nd, and you'll be good to go.
