This question is for all who run down the quarter mile.

I launch at about 5000-6000...I dont really look, But I know the area. More of a drop than slip...but I can do both.

I've found that chunking it into reverse, screaming up to rev limit and then dumping the clutch works well to get all the parts warmed up nice and quick.

Then I like to put the car back in first, set the parking brake, rev the engine to only about 3000 RPM (dont wanna cause excessive wear on the engine or tranny after all!) and then popping the clutch out again. The car bogs a little bit, bucks and kicks quite a bit when I floor it, but my 60 ft times are down to 3 seconds and I finally broke into the 15s the other day!

Your Mileage May Vary

just in case, I'm borrowing Sonic's dumbass clause...

this is a newb question, but when you launch at 5K rpms how do you go about letting off the clutch... do you ease it into or what?

well, you kinda get a feel for it, you can feel if it is catching or burning...that...usually follows by an awefull smell. I am assuming you have a stock tranny, I would practice from 4500-5000. Get a feel for when if grabs. As you get better, it will go from a slip, to more or a slip then drop, but not quite....it will be just perfect!! You will also, take note of the sound of the engine too.

It takes practice...but you'll get it. Just try not to break your tranny.

Hope this helps
