they are dated though, there are better options out now. Star spec IIs should be coming out in early 2013 though, and I think the rs4s should be out later on in 2013

One of the reasons I like the 760s is because they are quiet.

I don't consider a stiff sidewall a flaw

I will ditto this. Just bought a set in the 245/40R17 variety to replace a set of worn out star specs, and they work GREAT in both wet and dry environments. Excellent feedback, and they have excellent warning properties when they are approaching their threshold.

$923 mounted w/lifetime balancing from Wheelworks in SF.

My Michelin Pilot Super Sports have held up well to aggressive driving, many canyon runs and grips like no other.

Cant break traction on my rear wheels with a 255/35/18 in 2nd gear with about 350whp, and most of the time when the tires are warmed up even in 1st with a roll-out.

Wear is amazing as well, tread rating is at 300. (My OEM's were 140!!)

"The treadwear grade is a comparative rating based on the wear rate of the tire when tested under controlled conditions on a specified government test track. A tire graded 200 would last twice as long on the government test course under specified test conditions as one graded 100. It is an oversimplification to assume treadwear grades will be proportional directly to your actual tire mileage. The relative performance of tires depends upon the actual conditions of their use and may vary due to driving habits, service practices, differences in road characteristics and climate."

So what kind of mileage did you get out of the previous set of tires (not sure what was on there as you didn't mention it) and what kind of mileage did you get out of the current Michelin Super Sports?

I had the "Bridgestone Potenza RE050A RFT" which lasted me approximately 12k miles. I fully expect my MPSS's to last 25k at the least.

The RE050 RFT's gripped nicely however they were rock hard, sent horrible noises into the cabin even on small bumps, lastly @ $350!!. Thank god I got rid of them. The ride on the Michelin Super Sports is much better, and still handles like a dream.

Yep, that is what I paid for a set out the door more than a year ago. This time, I ended up catching the black friday deals and got a set at WheelWorks near my apartment. Quoted price was $723 minus $150 for Black Friday. I also got an alignment, so that brought the price up to almost $700.

I forgot how much I love these tires.. They are super nice. Sticky, awesome in the rain and way fun. Also, my brake rotors were not breaking in, even after 3k miles with the trashy Kumhos that were on the car. After getting the RE760's, the rotors were broken in within 50 miles. Brakes are nice and smooth now.

I'm thankful for it. I did not realize but I guess my rims are 7" wide as the 225's are actually a little wide on these rims. Not bad, but I guess 215's would have fit better. Tires are still awesome though!

Nope, that is the right size for those rims IMO. I am running the same setup 7" and 225s. If you use the tire calculator, 225/45/17 is the closest thing to the stock 16" size.

Cool. It's not too bad, and this way if anyone else drives my car they will be harder to curb.
