Car Info: 96 Chevy Impala SS, 06 GMC 2500HD (former 02 WRX)
mcdrama : post up the Civic Hatch on the BA AutoX e-mail list. That is the body shell to use if you're gonna build up an STS Honda Civic (which is pretty much the car to have for that class).
Hell, I've thought about building up one myself

I'd say an older wagon or some kind of a truck. You can get a decent pick up for $4-5k.
If he's got a steady income why not get a loan and get something for a bit more. You can get a loan for like $10k and get a decent ride that will last him a while and have payments under $200 a month.
