I only had one glove on because the event was not officially timed so I had to start and stop the timer on my phone, and the touchscreen wouldn't register with the glove on, unfortunately.

In a national style event, the grid works a little different. Essentially, the order is predetermined and a certain amount of town must elapse before you are sent out.

The chrome thingy is to keep the tires warm. In Solo, you are not allowed to use tire warmers or warm tires before your run.

On a separate note, the SF Region is blessed to have a lot of depth in their drivers. It isn't uncommon to be chatting it up with a National Champion at an event. Not to mention that they are all great people.

I had the opportunity to let a DSP National Champion drive my car, and he would have pax'ed within the top 25 of that event. That's quite a testament considering my car is a P.O.S.

That's a pretty fast course. Lot's of flat out straights. Impressive run.

Once I succeed in beating Gagan I'll consider going to Nationals.

Question for those that have done Auto-X and Track days: do you like 1 more than the other? AutoX days seem to be more accessible where track days you likely have to travel a bit more and ultimately spend more money.

AutoX runs appear fun and have a totally different approach than track sessions. But I feel like I would enjoy track days more. I guess I'll have to try autox sometime soon.

You are a lot less likely to hurt the car in Auto-X. You get less seat time, for less money. Working the course and seeing experienced drivers go at it will teach you a lot about driving all by itself.
