I think it all stemmed from the So-Cal Speed Shop (which has been around since 1946). Just in the last 10 years or so its become cool to have So-Cal stickers and isht even though most people have no idea its a hot rod thing (sorta like Von-Dutch).

It was only a matter of time before Northern California got 'jealous' and had to create thier own image.
