probably a good idea.
Whose to say it's not worse than my turbo at this point since they've put it off for so damn long.

Well, you like the car or not? How much do you want to get something else?
IMHO If you get a bigger turbo, you might have more power but you'll still have the 2 liter pissing you off, and I just can't stand the lack of lowend torque. So now you decide - keep the car the way it is or sell and spend like $30,000 dollars instead of $0.
You would love a used S4 or M3 - I tell you my friend enjoys driving his almost stock M3 more than his GT30R evo.

If I trade it in as is....unrepaired I should get a couple...3 thousand tops above what I owe. Roll that $2-3000 into a new wrx wagon would put me at about what I'm at now payment wise and I'd have a new car with no issues but another few years of payments.
If I sell it. Sell all my parts. Take the $6000-7000 and put that down on another car I could get lower payments and a new car. Or put that toward my fiance's car (she's barried by about $4000). Trade her piece of crap in on a new car for her and buy me another one or buy me a beater until I can afford a down on an sti or 335I or whatever else I want.
I don't know man. I figure any way I look at it our payments are gonna be about the same but we'd have at least one new car instead of two cars with about 100,000 miles on them.
on a side note. I called BAR. They said they don't handle claims like that. Said to call DMV. So now I have to call DMV. I called SUBARU but they told me to call a different department in subaru that happens to be closed.
I'm sick and tired of this run around stuff. I just don't understand why people can't be honorable and do what they say they're gonna do.

Bump.
I'm getting mad offers on EVERYTHING. I've got like 4 on the wheels and the fog lights alone...sheesh. At least I know if I trade in I'll be able to part out quickly. If I sell I should be able to sell somewhat quickly...I'm thinking like $12.5 or so...after turbo repair.
Anyways...on point update.
I found an invoice in my bank records exactly where I thought it would be. April of last year for the exact price of 5 oil filters.
So between today and monday the parts manager is gonna find it for me and see if it is indeed oil filters. If it is then I'll have reciepts for oil and oil filters. If they try to deny me after that I'll be sueing SOA. If they approve I'm going to tell them they also need to do a compression/leak down test to insure my engine hasn't been damaged from lack of a turbo.
If it's not the oil filters then I've got to keep going through my bank records. I only checked April as I was pretty sure that's when it was.
So thanks to my Santa Cruz of Subaru staff for doing what they can and no *****ing about it.
No thanks to SOA at all. They've done nothing but bounce me around. So up yours SOA.

BINGO!
just got off the phone with SC Subaru. They found my invoice. 4 oil filters. 4 crush washers. January of last year. SCORE!!!! They have to get it out of the wharehouse and get me a copy. That should be monday.
So I should know monday/tuesday if they're gonna man up and take care of this..
on a side note.....pretty much everyone is on my side at the dealership. SCORE!

w00t! Awesome! Glad they managed to help you out Ray. sucks that you had to go through all that work though.
IMO, fix the car, part it out and sell it. Your car looks really clean and it sounds like you have enjoyed it.....
...BUT.....its just not worth it to put in a bunch of dough into a car with 100K miles, especially a bigger turbo. I mean, if you do upgrade your turbo setup dont be surprised if you start having problems.
Im a bit biased though, I just went through a similiar decision and I decided to part out my wagon and sell it. I cant make it into what I want it to be (STi or Evo power and handling) without taking risks (motor/tranny and the endless money pit of trouble shooting when things go wrong).
Good luck!

Leaning towards selling it whole or parting it out at this point.
I still haven't heard back from SOA...they're dragging.
Anyone have a lower mileage stock turbo for sale that's ready to just drop in. Looking to fix and sell.

Still in the thought process....but I'm kinda thinking this....
Sell it whole as is for like $13,000. Or Part it out and sell it for $11,500. KBB puts it between $11,500-12,500.
Take the money. Drop it down on an 07 wagon. Get myself a clean slate. No extended warranty and a 2.5 liter.
Only thing I really want to carry over from my old wagon to the new one is maybe some parts of the stereo system, spt intake, derail kit. Everything else I could care less. The V7 wheels look stupid on v9 cars.
I like my car. It's a good car but the hell with it...we'll see though. I just can't keep dealing with this when I'm trying to do my wedding stuff. It's driving me nuts.
