SO this sucks. B4 I went to FMIC I asked my smog tech, and he said he had no problem with them as they do not interfere with the intake system other than how the air was cooled.

Wondering if I should even chance it or just go in with the factory TMIC next time I smog?

You don't need an EO AFAIK. The car came equipped with an intercooler stock, so FMIC is 100% legal. Go to a different smog shop.

You can't change the location according to the smog law. Lemme find it. People have gotten away with a front mount though. It's one of those can be interpreted differently.

Heedz is correct. You can go to a Ref with an aftermarket TMIC and pass. Since the subaru's didnt come with FMIC an aftermarket FMIC wouldn't be legal. This is why EVO and SRT4 owners can get away with HUGE FMIC's

Then go to a shop that interprets it in your favor.

Oil change finally after 4500 miles

Also fixed up an uppipe to header leak that caused a p0030 code. Let's see if it goes away now.

Intercoolers are totally open according to the BAR. If you can keep factory pluming for the BOV and intake into the turbo, you can run a FMIC. They are expressly excluded from SMOG/Emissions consideration.
