I just went through the same research and found that pretty much everyone said to go with the Subaru coolant. Picked mine up for 25 and change at Stevens Creek Subaru.

NASIOC has a good article regarding it.

From what it sounds like and correct me if I'm wrong, but the coolant has more to do with preventing corrosion in the aluminum engine block more than the radiator itself.

Regardless which coolant you use remember to use deionized or distilled water.

Nice deal. Mine ended up being 28 a gallon after my discount, but i'm in the sticks...far from civilized territory.

Maybe. At least I can say my coolant matches my paint. How's that for mad tyte JDM?

But, apparently the blue coolant is said to last 105k before a change is needed while the green standard stuff needs to be changed after 30k.

alright, so the plan now is to drain the coolant and pop on the new turbo. So now how do I go about circulating through distilled water to get all the old green out without actually starting the car?

Why buy premixed coolant? Water is quite cheap cheaper then 50/50 premixed. If you are worried of minerals and deposits in our hard tap water got buy the 30 cents a gallon stuff in front of supermarkets.

Because that's how the Subaru coolant comes already.

Where are you guys disposing of your drained coolant? That's a lot of liquid.

I think you can take it to any of those quick oil change places or an autozone or kragen. I've taken used oil to the 15min oil change place and they take it off your hands for free. Should be the same for coolant.
