Plus, front drivers get better mileage.
If you're interested in the Toyota Matrix, cross shop for a Pontiac Vibe. They are identical vehicles.

Car Info: The Fit is gone!
The Fit sport is a little more than you wanna spend, but its worth it. I havent driven it in the rain yet, but people from back east say it handles pretty well in the rain. It has tons of room and is great to drive. Plus it has many safety systems (ABS, EBD, dual stage front airbags, side curtain, and in the sides of the front seats) I have no regrets buying it and feel sorry when I see people in other new cars checking mine out. I'll prob be at UCKK if you want a better look at one without a salesman there pointing out stupid stuff.

A 1991 300ZX twin turbo...oh shi.....I mean, a Honda Fit would be nice, but a fully loaded one would run ya about $17-18k. A Vibe is pretty well equipped and it's just a rebadged Toyota at a slightly lower cost than the actual Toyota Matrix. The new Toyota Yaris is another one of those affordable econoboxes. I also like 03+ Corolla S's. Scions are also a good bang for the buck. You can't go wrong with either one of the 3 cars. Also, if you wanna consider compact SUV's, Toyota Rav4's and Honda CRV's aren't a bad idea either if you can find a decent price on some well equipped used ones.

A base model fit IS fully equiped! The only differences with the sport are the spoiler/body kit, wheels, radio I think, and if you get the automatic the paddle shifters... The interior is the same, all the major options are still the same, and starts out at less than $14k.

The engine had been rebuilt once...which is odd because that 2.5 liter in-line 6 has a great reputation for reliability but mine ate a head gasket at 40K. The car felt FAR less sporty to drive than a 2.5RS, but I will say the paint was great! lol
