its definitely a matter of ego. it sounds like the workplace is one that breeds this type of behavior. everyone is so high strung because hiring practices and company culture come from the top down. as they say, **** rolls downhill. and thats in every aspect of the company. it just shows that the mgmt running the place are not people who necessarily like to 'work together', but rather like people 'working for them'. and if someone below you, working for you, is smarter than you, then that presents a threat. they really have to ask themselves, are they hiring thinkers or worker bees?

Make certain that the company knows why your wife is turning their offer down.

Don't just tell the people on the other end of the line. Copy the company president, anyone you've talked to during the hiring process, and anyone else you believe should know. Be sure that they understand why you are not interested.

Good things come with patience. Don't be upset, you made the right decision.

She's suppose to get a call from the higher up. I told her to wait what he/she says before saying anything. We were going through what she needed to say last night. It should be interesting.

Thanks for the support. It would have taken too long to find a psychiatrist going through my HMO. I'm better now.

well, think of it this way....once she turns the job down and tells them exacty WHY she is turning it down....they will quickly realize how stupid they were to question her test, and will see that they made a HUGE mistake....hiring quality people is not an easy thing to do....reality will hit them hard.

-Ted

Props to your wife for pwning that test! Tell her to keep her head up and she wouldnt have wanted THAT job anyways.

You're wrong, they don't care. They really don't. You can tell anyone you want, nobody will remember your wifes name in two days.

Thanks Ted. I wish they would call all the referrences she had listed, which consists of Managers and VP's where she worked before. They would really find out what they lost.

Berry, you are # 1 on that list, but that's because it's alphabetical.

I agree. The person in charge of hiring who doesn't believe she could manipulate numbers without cheating is the one who decided to question her integrity. Let this person's boss know that their hiring practices discriminate against good employees and you are sure to see changes.

Someone said "they don't care, they really don't". It may be true that the hiring manager who screwed this interview up doesn't care. But the person who is paying to have good employees hired DOES care. At the end of the paper trail is a person who wants the job to be done right -- and they will do what needs to be done.

Good luck!

Thanks as well. I really want it to go to the top, but somehow I'm a little bit skeptical if it will even make a difference.

It's a Community College by the way. Sorry if I avoid giving the name of the school, but you know how the system works.
