Yea, that keep gash on his elbow was a lot worse than he thought. I think the fact that it happened on a back to back road trip to Chicago didn't help either. I'd think they were in a hurry to hop on a plane to Chicago after the Knicks game. So he probably didn't think twice about getting it checked out some more. What an unfortunate turn of events, I really hope he's okay cuz infections are gnarly. =/
On the brighter side of things, Lacob and Guber are officially owners of the Golden State Warriors. So in order to celebrate, tickets and food for the Detroit Pistons game on Monday are all half off. The coupon code "SOCIAL" is used for the tickets. I found out about this deal on Facebook.

Ugly win by the Warriors tonight after squandering a 30 point lead. Pistons never lead the game after the 1st quarter, but the opportunities the Pistons had could be blamed on Keith Smart for leaving Radmanovic in the game in the 2nd half. He went small ball late in the 4th quarter (all the way to the end of the game) and Radmanovic was the center. I seriously questioned if Smart was trying to lose the game.

Now they're looking at 2-3 more weeks with a possibility of 2-3 more trips to the operation room to clean that elbow out. That freakish elbow infection's a bastard! Lesson learned, when there's a deep cut, clean the hell out of it and close it up instead of just wrapping gauze and tape around it. =/

David Stern disapproved of Peter Guber's statement of saying, "We're not a cure for cancer. We're a cure for Cohan though!" during the luncheon on Monday afternoon. I already love the new owners if they're already saying stuff that fans have been saying and it's pissing off David Stern.

rough game for the Dubs. only caught the last 10 mins or so, but squad looks out of sync. "experts" seem to think curry's hit the wall cuz of all the ball he's played, 18-20 months straight, incl Team USA qualifying hoops. can't say that i've been watching many games (don't really have time to watch all the LAKER ones either), but dude does look a lil spent. very few lil dudes are like AI and can go b@lls out & take the pounding.
anyways, they really need lee, amundsen, & any warm, big bodies... too many mices in houses. jlin's doing his thing tho, usually in garbage time, but he was out there late in the 4th, when they still had a chance tonite vs the rockets. made a nice 2 for 1, quick J from top of the arc to end the 3rd & also a nice, driving lay-up prior.

Then there's the porous defense, and leaving their man to double and forgetting to guard the guy they're supposed to be guarding. Leaving 3 point shooters wide open. David Lee isn't a great defender, but when he was out injured, the Warriors reverted back to their old self and gave no effort on defense.
After all that, there's the problem with referees blowing the whistle at every touch against the Warriors. The Warriors lead the league in fouls, and teams playing against the Warriors get the least (a stat brought to you by Bob Fitzgerald). That's not to say they didn't deserve the majority of the fouls, but some of the foul calling have been very suspect. It's also a problem when the team is always called for more fouls (2-1 ratio) and the opposing team shoots double the number of free throws. Last night's game was extreme to say the least regarding fouls and free throws, but other games have been called similarly in the past.
Also have to mention, even if Udoh and Admundson come back, they'll provide some defense and rebounding, but they still won't be the answer since they have limited offensive skills. The Warriors bench is super thin with little depth and that's not going to improve until Larry Riley brings in somebody capable of some offense. He sacrificed the whole bench this year to save his job, and now it's showing in the Win-Loss column. They have roughly $14-17 million in expiring contracts, Riley needs to make sure he uses it for some quality players.

good points, Turn. like you said, as the w's backcourt goes, so do they. (for better or worse) they need curry tho, esp monta. ellis is getting his, but he's doing it purely on streak shooting+athleticism. he+the w's don't get enough easy shots, & that's largely in part because of their lack of an inside presence. lee is a hard worker, but he's really not a pf. he's too small, & shoots too many j's. at least kg is out east & duncan is on the downside, or else the he'd really be in trouble. the L is turning into more of a guard oriented, up+down game anyways. it's good for fans, but i miss the slug it out days of the lakers vs green guys, mj's bulls vs the bad boys, knicks, & pacers. there aren't too many real rivalries anymore.
back on topic, w's made some moves, but they were more outa desperation than anything. it's been one of their most frustrating habits. they sit on their %$#es for too dang long, & then they either have to blow up the squad or the key dudes leave. they were doing aiite early on, but the honeymoon looks like it's over. other squads know how to stop em, & if they don't hold monta+curry down, no one else is really there to do much damage. i'm going to sound like a broken record, but they really need a coupla competent vets to show the young bucks the way. godbless smart, but he ain't the answer as coach either. it's basically the blind leading the blind... or rook leading the rooks, if you will, out there. i guess the new bo$$dude$ didn't want to open up the vault or couldn't get anyone good tho.

^ Larry Riley sacrificed the whole bench to save his job. They could've kept Watson, Morrow, Tolliver, etc but money was an issue.
Warriors win tonight's game, largely due to DWright's 9 made 3's, and DLee's presence in the game. DLee didn't do much as his elbow's still hurting (you could see it with his jumpshots, shots were falling short) and didn't make much effort to get rebounds. He did play 42 minutes though. Warriors were out-rebounded by a wide margin, 32-55.

I'd be all over this if Ellison manages to buy the Hornets and move them to SJ. Would be the biggest FU to Chris Cohan's buddy, Joe Lacob, and to a lesser extent, Chris Cohan himself. I'd probably guess that at the very minimum, half of the Warrior fans would jump ship and become Hornet fans.

Hornets on move?
New Orleans Hornets minority partner Gary Chouest has attended every home game this season, but it’s far from a done deal that he will eventually become the franchise’s majority owner, league sources said.
Even still, Chouest remains the most serious bidder for the Hornets, who could have an opportunity to move.
The New Orleans’ Times-Picayune reported that the Hornets can opt out of their current lease with the state of Louisiana if they fail to average 14,213 fans over a 13-date stretch that began on Dec. 1 and ends Jan. 17. Through their first nine home games, the Hornets have averaged 13,826, ranking 27th among the NBA’s 30 teams.
Chouest is a Louisiana native with political and business ties to the state, so it would be a surprise for him to move the franchise if he’s able to purchase it from current owner George Shinn. If a deal with Chouset isn’t completed, league sources said Oracle CEO Larry Ellison remains intrigued about buying an NBA franchise after losing out on the Golden State Warriors. It’s possible Ellison could seek to move an existing franchise to San Jose, Calif., which has an 18,500-seat arena.
If the Maloof family ever decides to sell the Sacramento Kings, Ellison could also emerge as a suitor for them.
