^^^ x's 2......
yup, OLD Nellie never saw a defensive mentality he ever wanted. hard to teach an OLD dog new tricks, but you'd think the powers that be would finally learn something after repeatedly banging their heads on the wall.
::
oh well, the W's are like that dysfunctional family member that everyone has but loves anyways. lol
::
::
and, i reiterate......playoffs?......you're talking bout PLAYOFFS?? (sorry, there's no Easter Bunny or Tooth Fairy either, kiddos!)

I had a convo with some of my buddies. Nellie's a good coach, no doubt. However, there's something about him that seems to be too damn lazy to develop and teach rookies. It's as if he'd rather have vets who can run out there and give him what he expects. That's his problem.

the real problem is just what i alluded to....albeit sarcastically. Nellie WAS a good coach. He is still a decent offensive one, but as the old cliche goes....DEFENSE wins games in the long run, esp close games. W's haven't had that many close ones cuz they've been just plain sucking.
::
in short, Nellie is too old+battered mentally+physcially to coach top level ball. even if he had a cohesive+competent bunch, he just doesn't have enough in the tank anymore.
what's more, the game has passed him by, which he has fully ADMITTED. run+gun, no defense ball just doesn't work in this day and age. it was a novel gameplan back in the old days of TMC+even Sprewell, but there are simply too many stellar athletes+squads in the game today. You aren't just gonna run teams outa the gym anymore. You NEED to get stops. The Suns realized it, but only after it was too late, and now look at what a shambles their team is in. D'antoni brought that mess over to NY, and they're suffering a similar fate. And y'all just saw what the Lake Show did to the Magic.
::
on that note, I reiterate.....Defense wins games, & Nellie needs to go. So does the rest of the front office+mgmt+ownership. W's aren't going anywhere w/the blind leading the blind.

Actually, in a sense, it does work. If your point of view is strictly to win the championship, then yes, a run and gun offense won't work. That being said, a high offensive team means more fun and interesting games, which help drive ticket sales and season tickets. Look at the run and gun team Sacramento had with Webber, Bibby, Stojakovic, Christie, Divac. Wildly popular back then, sold out arena, till players started leaving. Now they're a losing team and home games aren't sold out any more.
Nobody expects the Warriors to win the championship in the near to distant future. But if the Warriors can create a style of play that's fun and interesting and get to the playoffs, that's enough for Warrior fans to tell you the truth. Just look at their ticket sales in the 2 years Baron was with the Warriors. They sold out almost every game (with overfill crowds). The point I'm trying to make is that you don't need to win a championship to be profitable. It's obviously the ultimate goal, but the Warriors don't need to shoot so high goal-wise considering that the only goal for the past several decades have been just to make it to the playoffs.
Once the Warriors can consistently get to the playoffs year after year do you start considering raising the bar higher and taking a look at winning a championship by altering their style of play.
As for Nellie, he's just coaching so that he can get as many wins as he can for historical purposes and personal accomplishments. He's only 100 games behind Wilkens as the all time winningest coach

therein lays the problem....no one expects the W's to win a championship next year or anytime soon because most die-hard W's fans have grown accustomed to their mediocrity....and that's and understatement.

if we want to just settle for filling seats+sellng tix, might as well go down to Moss Park in Oaktown & grab some dudes or add Hot Sauce+few And1 streetballers. then the circus can be in town every game, and we can all just yuk it up, instead of tearing our hair out year after year watching the organization fall on their faces+keep digging THEMSELVES deeper & deeper.
::
i'm not trying to be facetious, but there's only so much i can take. and, seriously, once we, as fans, start to settle and lower expectations, then there's really no reason to follow the Warriors anymore. we NEED to keep demanding MORE....& BETTER!
::
the W's have always had a loyal fan base & never had much trouble selling tix. but one of the reasons is cuz there's not much else going on out in Oakland+East Bay.....sports or otherwise. Not a dig at the folks out yonder, but it's true. W/the economic downturn, fans are starting to stray. they'll likely come back once things pick back up, but, imo, that would only set the W's back again. People need to stay away and send a message to the clowns running things...we're not gonna put up w/half-@$#ed garbage anymore!
::
and not to beat a dead horse, but i stick by my contention that W's need to ditch run+gun and implement a more balanced game, incl some defense. until they do that, they're just gonna keep being a ragtag bunch that's good for a few oohs+ahhs here+there, but never get anywhere.

Hedo Turkalou and the Trailblazers verbally agree to a deal
Ron Artest is going to the Lakers
Zach Randolph goes to Grizzlies
Allen Iverson is interested in going to the Grizzlies (as Ric Bucher puts it, "who the hell is actually interested in going to the Grizzlies? Shows you how far AI has fallen if you're only option left is going to Memphis")

Basically Ariza's agent wanted to play hard ball with the Lakers. Lakers just said, "Fine, we'll just sign Artest for the same amount we were gonna pay you." So Ariza had to sign with Houston. Artest was willing to play cheap in LA and Kobe had something to do with convincing him when Ariza's agent was being a douche bag.
Hido Turkoglou stiffs the Trailblazers and will sign with the Raptors instead for 5 year $53 million
Remember that nothing can take place until July 8 though
