Warriors thread
Looks like Stan Van Gundy will be going to Detroit. The Warriors team should be the most desirable place to coach for this coming season, but Lacob wants to have a say in how the team is coached, and good coaches are turned off by that. Not a good thing when somebody picks a worse team to coach for. That says something right there. Is Lacob becoming the next Al Davis?
Stan Van Gundy is being offered not only the coaching position, but also the team president with full control of basketball operations.
The organization has quality people running and advising basketball operations right now. No need to ruin all that and give someone else total control.
Plus they're apparently offering him 5yr/$35mil vs what the Warrior's range which is apparently 5yr/$25-30 mil.
I have no reason not to have faith in Lacob for now. I think the team has been improving ever since he came on. Sure, Bogut hasn't turned out great with the injuries, but when the team has been at full strength they've been impressive, and certainly more complete than any Don Nelson team imo.

Warriors get their ultimate yes man. Should be an improvement over Jackson overall, but still not convinced the Warriors record is going to get any better, barring a big trade(s). With the current roster the way it is, it's not going to be a top 3 team, or 55+ win team.

Regular season record should not be counted. Even if Jackson remained as the coach, regular season record in the west should not be the indicator of improvement.
Playoffs and team performance are though. How far they go in the playoffs is simple. But how the team plays (especially against inferior teams), how the team adjusts, in game things like turnovers, dead ball offense / defense, 2nd unit rotation.
The backup PG has to be addressed. Two unrestricted FAs I would love to see here, Ramon Session and Kirk Hinrich.

Golden State Warriors add Klay Thompson to possible Kevin Love trade - ESPN
To make splash, Dubs must break up duo - TrueHoop Blog - ESPN
Steph, Iggy, Harrison, Love, Bogut coming off the bench K Martin, Green, Ezeli, Speights, Crawford and a true backup PG that's a better team.

As for the cap, this is one of the reasons why they want to trade for Love. They won't have to pay Klay and keep Lee.
