Wait, why does everyone hate Ken Block?

I don't understand why anyone would hate on Subaru either though. Subaru is a low volume manufacturer and with the economy in the tank you can understand why they pulled out. They are still rallying though:

The IRC is the WRCs rival competition and there's a ton of reasons to like the IRC more than the WRC. They're now the governing body for the Monte Carlo rally, one of the most iconic rallies in the world.
Subaru is trying to go more "mainstream" because they need to sell more cars. Period. I personally think the '08-'10 hatchbacks are the best looking Imprezas since the GC/GMs.

I don't hate Ken. I hate his fans more than anything. I hate the 'desert rat' scene of lifted trucks and dirt bikes. Those people drive me nuts. Maybe it's because I'm from Orange County and the IE people just seem trashy. Meh.
I also don't think of Subaru first when I think of WRC. If anything the first car that comes to mind is the original Mini. Then gpB cars. Those were iconic. The Subaru rally cars were awesome and definetly had their time, but they're a symbol of an era rather than a symbol of rally itself.
Ford has a very proud rally heritage and will continue to do so.
FYI, Subaru is a business not a band. Ergo, the public will get what they demand, not what they deserve.

Block is one chill and awesome dude. I like him as a person a lot, and what he's after.
But I don't care so much about the crazy stuff he's taped. It's awesome to watch, but that's it. People (mostly on Nasioc) go nuts for it, saying how he's gonna crush in Rally and this and that...
He's a WRC rookie... a 43yr old WRC rookie. This is an eye opener, and a learning experience, and he knows it.
It's the stupid nasioc fanboys who keep going on and on and on about how he's the next Loeb or some ****...

This is what scares me about FiA. I think max moseley is nuts. This will definitely be the end of rotaries and flat 4s in FiA sanctioned races if true. Not sure what they plan to do about Vees.

And IRC is not very organizer friendly, they still run under FIA regs but from what I've heard they are even more ridiculous about events needing to pay up front to even begin talking about inclusion in the IRC than the WRC is.
That and they are owned by Eurosport which means we probably won't be seeing IRC on stateside TV anytime soon, if ever at all.
Recent changes at the FIA should start usher in a revitalization of WRC, I've heard that 4-5 new manufacturers may come into play next year- really hoping it happens.

So will that change my chances of owning a 2015 rotary powered Miata!? I hope not.

This is why wagon owners love their wagons. It's not just about styling.
Substance, people. Substance.
