I tried all the quiet CBEs: Prodrive Oval, Greddy EVO2, Borla Hush. They will all drone on the highway if you are completely catless. No way around it without custom midpipe with resonator or hi-flow cat. I finally went with STi CBE and am 100% satisfied. At my power level (VF34, Pinks, Cobb AP, TBE) I doubt if I am down on power, but even if I am it is less than 5whp. Well worth it to be rid of the drone.

We talked about this a little bit when I got those struts from you.

I run a Perrin and get very little drone.

My suggestion would be to either get a different exhaust if you're not totally stoked on it. Or go get yourself some insulation and insulate the spare tire well and the rest of the back as well. That will make it all much quieter, if you want to stick with the exhaust you have.

Personally... I'd like to get a mad dad dual whisper.

It helped. Didn't completely remove the noise but (for me) took it from a bit too annoying to entirely tolerable. I've since done the rest of the car (doors, floor, roof) with Raamat and Ensolite from Raamaudio. I'd suggest the Raamat and Ensolite combo as a much cheaper alternative to Dynamat/Dynapad with pretty similar performance, plus Rick at Raamaudio is very helpful and happy to discuss your options. Take a look at www.sounddeadenershowdown.com/ to help decide on materials.
thanks for the helpful link.
how much do i need of raamat and ensolite to do the cabin area?

yea, i am suprised you dont get much droning from the perrin as it is pretty loud compared to the hush.
im gonna try to add some sound deadening to the rear cabin. if that doesnt help much, im gonna get another exhaust.
tahoe trips are just gonna be unbearable

Looking up the order, I bought the following for the cabin area.
  • 2 Rolls Raamat
  • 9 Yards Ensolite
  • 4 V&S Spray Adhesive Cans
Had about 1/3 roll of Raamat and a couple of square yards or so of Ensolite left over, plus a can of adhesive. I did less than complete coverage of Raamat on the roof and floor, and inside and outside skins of all four doors, with extra behind the speaker areas. I'd already done the cargo area floor, of course. Did also do the lift gate, though, which I'd skipped previously. I'm guessing that amount would be enough to do that, too, with a little still left over.

Took me most of a weekend to strip out the interior, do the job, wire in a set of front component speakers, under seat amp etc., and put it all back in. As a bit of advice, don't do the driver's side door first when getting the hang of the doors. It's the one you want done best, after all :-) And if you're ever thinking of changing out your speakers, this is the time to do it.

aren't you running catted though?

the perrin exhaust is horribly loud when attached to a catless up/dp.

WREXNFX and Shagon Wagon - You both have cats which makes a big difference. My Prodrive was fine when all I had was the catted uppipe. As soon as I got rid of that, drone city.
