no. italy played a great game. They used the exact same strategy they've been using for the entire cup. Defense, defense, defense, counter, defense, defense, defense...repeat. France's inability to punch through the defense showed they are in fact an inferior team. Their lone goal was on a free kick off a total NON-foul. And they call the italians divers...that "foul" in the box was as ridiculous as any call in the cup. The game should've ended 1-nil without even going into OT and penalty kicks. The better team won in the end, however.

 

From What I've read.... he was being abused all game and just being broken down mentally. And the final thing that set him off was him being called a "dirty terrorist" and with Zidane being born in France, but being raised in Algeria, an Arab majority country, you could probably see where this outburst came from.

I also believe that there was something said throughout the match still along the lines of being called "dirty terrorist" he was being told to go back to his country and play for his real team, Algeria.

Oh and also FIFA is looking into what has been said and if in fact was a comment like that FIFA will take action against Materazzi under the new strictly enforced racism rules put into effect at the beginning of the World Cup.

FIFA will most likely issue a couple game suspension in friendly play and a fine if the allegations are true.

You may want to do something about such a class A douchebag representing OUR (note that word) "heritige" on the world stage. In my view such players have no place at that level, they should stay in their leagues or series and leave the top rung to players who respect the game and their opponents. Or maybe he can find a proper american football team or rugby team if he thinks he is such a bad ***.. In my book dude is nothing more then a representation of everything that is wrong in the game. Me and my friends watching the game started counting how many passes the italians could get when they would cross into the "inferior team"s half, oh i mean the French. The average was about 3 passes before having the ball taken away, there were a couple times in which italy passed the ball once and then had it taken away. If Italy was unable to "punch through" the defense of a team who wasn't even focused on defending then you have yourself a truly inferior team. Everyone could see that the Italians were playing for PK's in the overtimes because as I stated before, the 2 best PK takers in the world were not in (Zidane and Henry). About that "NON-foul", I'm not sure if you recall later on a real foul being commited in Italies box but the ref not calling it as a make-up for giving that PK- basically there was going to be a PK one way or another. Italy scored off a set piece and their only real scoring chances were just that, off set pieces. The fact of the matter is that Italy could only score once the ball managed to bounce off a French defender allowing the Italian team to do what they really couldn't do the whole game, move the ball up into the "inferior team"s side of the field. It's funny how Zidane still recieved the golden ball as the world cup's best player-for all of you hating on him, he can't be too bad, he beat out 2 Italians for that rank (Cannavaro and Pirlo). There was only one real player that I saw for italy and that was Buffon.
