wow...

so as a vendor, you have no other means fight this?

cant you present the CCc a copy of the receipt? then have the a-hole present a copy of his receipt saying he got a refund?

Makes you wonder if someone stole his credit card and purchased the oil but also it seems odd that if the credit card was actually swiped and goods exchanged that the cc company didn't at least notify you.

Kevin, can you describe the guy (age, nationality, hair color)? Did you check his ID when accepting his credit card - if so, happen to remember where he lives?

Edit: Kevin, I emailed you a profile. Let me know if that's him. If it is, I have some ideas....

Sucks he did this, hopefully he hasn't done this to anyone else. Maybe contact ccc and see if card was reported stolen at all and if not report as a theft. I know stealing is stealing but thank goodness he didn't get ya for more.

It sounds like someone paid with a stolen CC, I'm fairly certain the person who came in is not the same person that canceled the purchase. This must happen all the time, I would assume there are ways for banks/businesses to deal with this, no?

Hey Kevin, you can call American Express to put the charge back on his cc. You have 45 days to do so, so I wouldn't wait if you want to be paid.

I'll play Devil's Advocate -- if my CC/identity got stolen and charges were made by someone other than me, I wouldn't want to be paying for it. Just sayin'. If this guy actually owned the CC, it would be super dumb of him to do this.

people,

had it been a stolen card, AE would have said that, and they would have called in to the police to come down and do a report.

This sounds like the guy is trying to run a scam, and he should be delt with harshly as posible for it.

sorry to hear, but happens all the time, we had a few charge backs of $3,000 and last week of $73 dollars. all we can do is fax back what they bought and lose out on the money because 99% of the time the cc company helps the customer and not the business.
