every radar detector will sound going past shopping areas cus of the radar for the automatic doors , plus alot of the local freeways around here have those radar units on the light poles now to monitor speeds or just fool everyone that has a radar detector.
the V1 is very sensative you have to use your best judgment when it goes off.
"you know thats why they put that remote mute button on it " :-)

I get false alarms whenever in the city or in shopping places, its the sensors that opens doors

In the bay area, up and down 101 there are lots of false alarms, I think most of them are from the traffic speed monitoring system taht the news stations use

I also always get that laser alarm need that big screen on the 101

However, open highway, its top notch. Saved me 5 or 6 times now on the 5, saved me twice yesterday on the 80/50 going to tahoe. I got an early signal apexing a hill,so i let off, this girl in a civic got butt hurt so sped around me, and CHP lit her up right away

I got one. . There are lots false alarm if you're in the urban area. But work really well in highways.

Saved me a lot in the NJ Turnpike and Garden State Parkway.

IIRC, Ka is not laser, it's another slimmer radar wave. That's what is very commonly used by CHP. If this ever goes off, stop speeding until it's been gone for a while since almost every time it goes off I can spot the cop. As for K, it's not used much anymore now that Ka is availible, but still is a possibility. X is the widest band giving the least accuracy on the cop, and is used for motion detectors in business alarm systems and automatic door openers so it's never used anymore.

Try setting your V1 from all bogeys to Advanced Logic and it will filter out a lot more false alarms, but remember if you ever go out on highways change it to just Logic.

I turn it off in shopping centers and sometimes city downtown. On the freeways, if it is your normal commute, you get used to those "False" alert areas and if it goes off other then those areas, you know to watch out. My V1 has saved me atleast 4 times in the last 1.5 years. That's pretty good reason for me to keep mine.
