Question Escort or Valentine One

Going to buy a radar detector looking at either the passport 8500 or the valentine one, I kind of had my mind set on the valentine one but I just wanted to see if anyone else had any more input on a good detector

Thanx for the help!

hardwired v1 > *

had it for 4 months, saved me at least a dozen times. the arrows work like a charm.

keep in mind, it's a radar detector and not a cop detector. still gotta pay attention to your surroundings. also it works better on the freeway vs city streets.

V1, I've had mine since they came out in 91 (?) sent it back to be retrofitted a few times. Still works like a charm. The wife has the escort I like the V1 better, the directional arrows alone are worth the extra money...

V!, no other radar comes close. Two of my buddy's have them and once you have the arrows you will never go back. The only downside is when you go through town it goes off a lot. Gets pretty annoying

My buddy has the V1 and I have the 8500. I think they are both about the same. We had them next to each other in his truck a little while ago and they were going off at the same time. I got the 8500 simply because it was $100 less than the V1. I feel that the V1 isnt worth $100 more than the 8500 because they perform the same.

If your gonna spend 300 on a radar detector then you might as well save up the other 100 and go for the better radar detector. The arrows on the V1 help a lot and I think, having been in cars with both, that the V1 performs better and looks cooler

i ordered the escort 8500 but cancelled before they shipped it. the V1, while it's more expensive, just seems like a more useful detector. in the end, it's how much you want to spend.

The V1 tells you which direction the signal is coming from. That's worth the extra 100, trust me. I also like the remote display on mine. I've hidden mine so no one but me can see the display. It's right in front of me. Everytime I get in my wifes car and the detector goes off I never know which way to look. This way I don't get leaches following me because they see I have a detector plus the thieves and police don't see I have one.

She doesn't happen to have a single sister does she? I need to find a lady that cool to hang with!

I've got my eye on a V1, as well.

Another vote for the V1 here. FWIW, Mike Valentine invented the Passport back in the day. Left the company because they wouldn't use some of his ideas (like the dual antennas and location arrows) among other things.
