Uppipe install question

I'm going to install my new up/down pipe tomorrow and have read up on this and it seems like I will need to jack up my engine in order to get the stock uppipe out. Is this true? Do I need to take it off the mounts in order to jack it up? Any other tips on jacking up the engine will be greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
John

+1

also, do it during the daylight. depending on which up you got, i think you have to cut your heat shield to make room for the new egt bung

I was just going to keep that heat shield off. Are you supposed to keep the turbo heat shield on aftermarket downpipes anyways? Sorry for the noobish question and thanks for the help. =-)

Keeping the turbo heat shield on is a good idea because the turbo is going to produce a lot of heat via the exhaust gases that it bypasses into the downpipe and the intercooler is going to soak it all up. Hack the heat shield or get an aftermarket one. I think there is a template for the DIY heat shield hack lurking somewhere on the forums FWIW. Hope this helps.
