upgrading breaks soon

i think its about that time to get new breaks. i would love to get a bbk but just dont got the money for that so i was thinking of just getting some rotors and pads. what do you guys think a good set up would be? i heard drilled rotors crack easily so would slotted be a better idea?

if you have the money get the stoptech's. they're just as good as the brembo's for a lot less money.

but you also have to keep the size of your wheels in mind. unless your running 18"s or bigger that is.

Brembo's don't fit under many 17's but the stoptechs should.

I use the 4 piston "racingbrakes" that you can get from Subydude. they look nice and fit fine under the 17's. plus they are the only 4 piston caliper i could find that fits the stock 16's that i need for off-road racing. They also come with the slotted rotors with larger vents.

sure i like the look of the drilled rotors, but i've also heard the stories. but if i had the money i'd most likely get em

Racingbrake calipers are nice, I would love to have them. But I am a cheap *** and am always looking for the best deal I can find. Where does one search for good parts cheap? EbaY!

There is a suby dealership online selling some 4 pots for a pretty good price:

white04wrx, I'm in need of brakes soon too. I'm doing rotors, pads, lines and H6 rears. for the rotors and lines I'm going to get it from importr (or something like that) Brembo blanks and SS lines for 347 shipped.

If you decide to go with something similar, send me a PM and we can order together and save a few more dollars.

but the break down for what I listed is a pretty darn good deal already:
WRX F/H6 R - 59/ea
SS lines - 89
shipping - 22

I'm getting pads and H6 brackets from another source using subie bucks.

my friend sent me this website where he got his breaks and there pretty cheap. $300 for F-R drilled slotted rotors plus F-R axis pads. i know thats like dirt cheap for some breaks but this website is vouched on corvette forums so if its good enough for a corvette good enough for my subaru.

I'd stay away from drilled rotors. Look good, can crack with repeated hard use.

Staying with stock size front rotor, I like slotted DBA's (650 or 4650 for a street WRX).

Upgrade the rears to slotted 290mm rotors with new caliper brackets (H6 upgrade). You will need new rear brake pads to go with the Legacy caliper brackets on your '04 WRX.

www.importrp.com is the place and they do have some good deals. I was in the same boat: couldn't afford a bbk, but definitely unhappy with the stock brakes. I can't remember the exact cost, but I got front Brembo slotted rotors, Axxis Ultimate pads and ss lines front and rear, and Superblue fluid. Pretty inexpensive upgrade and it made a world of difference. Didn't experience any fade and the brakes felt so much stronger during my track day.
