i saw the dubs play the lithuanian team last week, and I gotta say a couple things: captain jack looks sharp. he went on a 12-0 run on his own. he's gonna have to keep us afloat until monta comes back (and even then, who knows if he'll be 100% at all this year).also, corey maggette will be a force on the offensive side of the ball, but he's gonna have to really step it up on D otherwise we're gonna get torched at the 3 position every single game (he gave up 25 to his man during the preseason game).
either way, i'm gonna say cp3 is going to dismantle us regardless. but that's okay cause i got him on my fantasy team.
go dubs!

harrington for heinrich ftw? you guys can't be serious. w's are in dire need of pg but not another back-up one. heinrich is a heady player but already gets killed by other points in the east. he wouldn't stand a chance going against deron, cp3, b-diddy, tony parker, or even aging nash all season......monta too whenever he gets back.
i dunno who is available out there, but harrington should be able to bring at least 2 heinrich caliber players.....ideally another pf/banger in the mix. i'd really prefer for nellie and him to find a way to work things out because i like al and think we need his toughness. unfortunately, it doesn't sound like it's a good situation between the two. i don't think nellie has the energy or patience anymore either. i've always liked don too, but he's been known to rub players the wrong way, which is frustrating.
in any case it's unfortunate to have more turmoil before the w's have even played a game, but i don't blame al at all for wanting out. he has been under utilized for a while, and it's pretty clear that the w's are in real danger of slipping back into, for lack of a better term, their 'old selves.' the uncertainty surrounding mullin's future here also compounds things
i don't wanna be negative, but even w/monta, it would take some doing to get into the playoffs. the west is just too stacked. w's gotta hope for denver to really struggle and the overall youth/inexperience of the blazers to have a shot.

I think you think of too highly of al harrington. He does not bring any toughness at that pf positioin...let alone any rebounding we need more of. he is also undersized at 4. considering heinrich is a major upgrade from who we have now -- and considering there's no chance in hell we'll be able to trade harrington for paul/d.williams/jkidd/parker ...heinich is not a bad upgrade.
2 heinrichs for al? i don't know...but it would be nice if a team throws in some draft picks since warriors are alreadyon a youth movement.
other possible trade i like to see is acquiring chris wilcox from okc thunders.I've been always facinated by his big athletic body (poor man's amare), who can rebound and provide that intimidation in the paint. I thik he would accel in an open floor under nellie ball. however, i question his intelligence after all these years. but we're also forgetting b.wright who can also fill in that role. hopefully he'll start producing this year.
I don't know if the warriors are in danger like they were in the past. we still got very good young pcs like b.wright/randolph/monta...to go along with solid veterans like jack/maggette/biedrich for long term. we have solid foundation in my opinion. we just need to bring in the right players to fill in the gaps.
you're right on nellie. he does tend to rub people the wrong way. Cweb was noted..and now al. both jump shooting pfs not wanting to play center in nellie's small ball. i still think they should suck it up and play since they get paid in millions.
and don't forget, we need to bring mully back. the mastermind behind all our success in my opinion. **** robert rowell!

I think we can either trade Al for a real PG (I personally think Starbury wouldn't be a bad choice) and put Monta back at the 2 where he'd be more comfortable. This would shift everyone over, i.e. Jax at the 3, Magette at the 4, and Beans at the 5. Turiaf, Wright, and Randolph could substitute in for either Magette or Beans. This would basically mean playing smallball, since we'd be undersized at the 4, but it's not like the Warriors aren't used to it by now. Of course this leaves Watson, Williams, and Nelson as back-up PG's, and we certainly wouldn't need all 3, although Nelson played the 2 in college and may be more comfortable in that role.
Alternatively, we could trade Al for another 4. However, Al is soft and doesn't really finish all that well, and I doubt we're going to get a better 4 to replace him. That means Monta at the 1, Jax at the 2, Maggette at the 3, Turiaf/Randolph/Wright at the 4, Beans at the 5. Not a bad lineup, but we'd still be lacking in the power-forward spot.
Al can argue he's being under-utilized, but he doesn't rebound or finish all that well for someone his size. Plus, he's worked out fairly well as a 3pt specialist. His "value" is mainly derived from his ability to spread the floor, since he does have that perimeter shot which most 4's don't.

harrington might not be an elite or even traditional pf, but getting rid of him for JUST a point guard, esp a mediocre one like heinrich would be a huge mistake. randolph and wright are energetic, but both are still very young, raw, and inxperienced. what's more neither is even close to being ready to start at pf. they're both beanpoles and would get manhandled by duncan, artest, boozer, gasol, west, etc. get rid of al and you'd have another huge match up prob. put heinrich at the 1 and move monta to the 2 would mean the w's would have to score 200 pts a night cuz they'd get torched down low and on the perimeter for 150 a game.
ultimately, all of this is really pointless anyways. the bulls don't really need al, and i doubt mullin would want to make one of his last moves by trading him away for anyone other than a proven impact player, which, not to beat a dead horse, but heinrich clearly isn't.
imo the best thing the w's could do is take a cue from the suns and finally recognize that run and gun small ball isn't getting them anywhere, esp in the super stacked west. they need to learn how to play d and get stops. jacking up treys and hoping to oustscore teams every night ain't gonna cut it. i like nellie, but i think giving him that extension was a mistake.
btw, i do like chris wilcox tho. he def isn't one of the smartest players, but he has good size and a lot of physical gifts. i've been a fan ever since his days w/the terps. i was actually hoping the lakers would get him before we stole gasol from the grizz.
