Why boycott TXS? Just because you own a TXS unichip, is no means for boycotting TurboXS. I think they are one of the best aftermarket manufacturers for the WRX market. They continue to come out with innovative products. Some of the cars they have built also have some of the fastest 1/4mile times in the USA. And the most important thing is, THEY ARE HONEST and won't detune your car just because you aren't using their products.

of course he isn't because mpj is NOT a tuner and in no way claims to be one. how many times must this be said?

I would just like to inject here guys that the only tuning we do for customers is TV tuning (Tommy even has free Satellite)

We offer no tuning services what's so ever at this time. We are a parts and install shop we do offer other services such as motor build up, suspension setup and advice (we don't charge for the advice as it is likely wrong)

Just wanted to make sure we we're not depicted as EFI tuners such as the guys at I-Speed and Vishnu

I think that quote was dug up from the last thread that spiraled into some form of tuning tuners debate of which neither I nor the company I represent really wish to get into, hence my poor attempt at some form of humor. The overall theme of that post still stands though, MPJ/GB-motorsports sell parts and labor services. We leave the EFI tuning services to those that are qualified to do so (ala Bill - I-SpeedUSA, Shiv - Vishnu and there was some guy called Corky Bell I had heard knew a thing or two about Turbocharges and tuning).

I have to confess to liking to tinker here and there though..

DWNSHFT - Must have missed you mate (and your wife) as I was going to try and catch up with you on the ntercooler cause I could not make out the voicemail from you.

On the subject of UTEC, Ecutek and so on I will step out on a limb with my personal thoughts,

Ecutek - Perfect for those that don't want to be bothered with the intricacies of fuel and spark and the associated problems with learning on the job so to speak. Initial outlay depending upon chosen tuner should be less than that of the UTEC or full standalone although if your going to be modding gradually then may work out a little more in the end due to reflash costs above initial outlay (perhaps even dyno time). Great drivability and use of the stock ECU's safety featues.

UTEC - Great for the DIY tuners out there or those that want to be able to hone their tuning skills themselves. Initial outlay for device is moderate and virtual support is huge (internet, dealers and so on) Uses stock ECU's safety features as well as adding a couple of twists, great drivability for the most part, higher modified cars will depend on the expertise level of the tuner with regards to dirvability. New and interesting features in constant development.

Complete standalone or PEMS - For those with modifications beyond the above and the complete control freaks amongst us. Moderate to down right expensive in cost and for the more advanced user base (some easier to work with than others).

Just my personal thoughts on the which unit to go for subject.
