Snow n00b? I said this is the first season I am going to snow-board. For the last 5 years I have yet to see a california run I can't shred on skiis.

So my friend from SLO called, and it looks liek we will be going to MT. Rose on Sat, staing the night down in Reno and returning Sunday afternoon (I gamble too much).

Mt. Rose is sweet, and has a high base so the elevation helps with tha snow vs. rain issue.

yup, 20 bux gets ya your gear, beginner lift ticket & 2 hr lesson! and, as a buncha us recommended already, take the lesson, esp. if it's your 1st time or you've gone only a handful of times & that was a while back. it'll definitely allow for some constructive input to help speed up your learning.

*edit*
joe, this should help ya. i posted this on another thread where someone was asking how much boardin' would run.

great news for all you n00bs out there! most north lake resorts are offering a special deal for next wknd, dec 6th & 7th, only! http://www.firsttracksonline.com/ne...9750742382.shtm you get a beginner lift ticket, equipment(board&boots or skis, poles&boots ) rental, and a 2-hr beginner lesson! just give 'em an andrew jackson & you're set!

go to http://www.snowbomb.com/resorts/ ,then just click a resort from the 'Menu' on the left. once you select one, each resort listed will have a phone # as well as a link to its website so you can get info re: the $20 deal(Learn More on the North Shore)!!!

like i said, "(no offense)"

but to be technical ya just said ya never snowboarded. i just assumed that you've never skiied or anything as well. and we all know what happens when we ***-u-me.

rose is pretty sweet. lucky you, b/c when you're done, that road to reno is a fun but short drive. hope ya get bit hard like me by the snowboard bug!

You're links were useful but I couldn't find anything about the $20 special @ Mt. Rose. Is this promotion something I should make a reservation for or can I just roll up with the rest of yall and a couple of friends then get the deal? I would definitately like to check it out!

Learn to Ski or Ride for $20 in North Lake Tahoe December 6-7

Tahoe City, CA (Tuesday, November 4, 2003) - Aspiring skiers and snowboarders have little reason not to make their lifelong dreams of schussing down the slopes come to fruition this year. North Lake Tahoe's Learn to Ski or Board weekend, where $20 gets you an all-day beginner lift ticket, lessons and gear rental, returns for the fourth season Saturday, December 6 and Sunday, December 7.

Students have their choice of resorts to learn at including Alpine Meadows, Squaw Valley, Sugar Bowl, Homewood Mountain Resort, Northstar-at-Tahoe, Mt. Rose, Diamond Peak and Boreal. Upon completion of lessons, skiers and riders will be given coupons for return visits. Reservations are not required, but participants should arrive early. Tickets can be purchased at each individual resort the day of lessons.

also, if ya wanna contact mt. rose directly for the 4-1-1
http://www.mtrose.com/contact/index.php

and, i highly recommend that u get there early as suggested by the First Tracks tidbit. when u contact mt. rose, find out fo' shizzle when the 1st lesson is(typically 10 o'clock) & then allow time prior to that for getting your gear & whatnot.

hope this helps a ton & that u have a blast up there! the kirkwood caravan'll be rooting for your success!

Well Kirkwood is "reporting" 2' of fresh by Sunday...so it looks like the WOOD for me! It's deep (far) but the Wood rocks large for steeps and the lightest snow in the Sierras!

You guys all have fun and be careful of unmarked obstacles if you venture off-piste`. Don't want any core shots this early in the season.
