Just wondering if you guys can give me some insight here. This turbo I am interested in buying seems to have some light surface rust on the turbine side where the exhaust pipe connects to. Seller says its just dirty but seems like rust to me. Seller claims to have put only 3000 miles on it but compressor side seems like it could back up his statement of only 3000 miles. Would the "rust" on the turbine side cause any harm to the turbo? Would it be ok to run this turbo with the "rust" on it?

Also, what do the numbers on the compressor housing mean on this Blouch turbo? All images are from seller.

 

Turbine housings rust pretty quickly due to heat. Normal and nothing to worry about.

 

It only takes a couple hundred miles for a turbo on the hotside to look like that really. So youre good. just check for shaft play!

 

Thanks for clearing things up guys. Unfortunately, turbo got sold today so I guess I will just buy new. But at least I now know its ok, should I find another used turbo for sale.

 

I buy Turbos New cause of the warranty never what's gonna happen! Only time I'll buy used is from my friend since I know what it's been through and not just some guy on the internet saying "never tracked" yet it was tracked all its life lol.
