Rust all over my 2002
Rust all over my 2002
My car seems to have defective paint. I don't quite understand it since I don't really have chips on my car. There are little specs of rust on almost every panel, especially in the rear. It's definitely rust and not something on top of the paint. It's even on the inside in the jams. The front of the car doesn't have this problem, but the front (including fenders and hood) was repainted soon after I got the car since the paint was damaged before I even took delivery of the car. I was wondering...
1. Does anyone else have this problem? I hear of people complaining about chips, but not scattered rust like this. I've had my car for less than a year, and I'm pretty upset about this!
2. Any suggestions on how to handle this kind of case with the dealer? My dealer doesn't like to cover stuff under warranty unless you fight for it half the time, and I have a feeling that they won't do anything for me under the rust warranty since it is not rusted through the panel.
Any input is appreciated. Thanks.

If you have a light color car and live in a metropolitan area it could be pollution fallout. I lived in Seattle and had a white car and the air pollution left tiny specks of rust on the car that were hard to remove. Take the car to a reputable body shop and have them look at it. If there is a rust issue then you can go to the dealer with some ammo.
There is a standard 5 year unlimited milage warranty on every subaru that covers rust perforation. If it's just surface they may give you a bit of a hard time. But if its really all over the car then its a defect and the dealer should cover it. If not throw a fit and call subaru of america and complain. Its not cool if the car is rusting and its only an 02.

As the other guy said. If your car is white or silver its fallout.. acid rain. Need to remove it with clay. Or go to a great detail shop or body shop that will clay the car for you. I dont know why some white or silver cars get that more than others. Can be 2 white cars parked side by side and one gets it bad the other is fine. light yellow will also get it too
