You can take it out and clean it or replace it, but keep it in there. If you take the screen out and deposits make it to the turbo you'll have a much bigger issue than if you leave it there and clean it periodically.
it is the AVCS one that needs discarding but i discarded both of mine (turbo banjo and avcs)

I'd still rather have unscreened oil going thru my turbo then my heads. Since its cheaper to replace the turbo then the heads.
But I do not run any screens so it doesn't matter.
