if you could only see the pm's I got when i asked the same question. I know I am new here but I see a lot of bias and I understand that it is all fun and games but I have really had a hard time getting an actual answer from people. I definetly dont want to be a part of any drama here and just aired my personal conclusions on the subject. The op asked for a shop based on geographical location and EIP or GST will be his closest options as far tuners go. I have no opinion on EQ as I have not met any of their customers nor have I seen any of his work, fair to say that he sounds knowlegable and I sure he is as well. I have met EIP customers who seemed more than happy with their work and I have met GST customers who were extremely satisfied as well. At my age here say get's old fast, so I tend to believe what i see in person. That is why i recomended these shops over EQ , hope this clears it up a little more. No offense intended towards EQ.

not being a dick at all honestly, but imo the valuable posters on this thread will be the people who have actually experienced the tuner(s), because while word of mouth can be good. All it takes it one retard to run his or her mouth about bs and then a ton of people claim that side. I'm glad you said you've heard rather than being like a lot of people who just chime in pretending to know, but really have no first hand experience.

I have owned three Subarus and have been through three tuners - Shiv/Vishnu, Mike/Gruppe-S/GST and Ed/EQ Tuning. Feel free to PM me on my experiences.

Thanks for understanding , I am not here to take one shops side over another. Just posting what i have seen in person and what i have heard from a third party. In all honesty this seems like a great community, but you are 100 percent on the money about people who make it seem like they have had first hand experience. For God's sake their was one person here pm'ing me about a shop and I came to find out that he does not even own a Subaru and has not had one for a considerable amount of time. I almost beleived him as well and it makes me feel like I cannot trust people here and it is sad, as there are some really nice folks on here. Anyways, I apologize again if i had said something that offended anyone here.

Hey guys, thanks for all the input. I will either be going to GST or AHQ, i just need to get ahold of them. I was tuned previously in SOCAL at HBspeed by John. I made 316hp and 285tq. I just want a retune here and see what the difference is. Also i keep getting an annoying cylinder misfire code. Maybe some of you have seen me. My car is a silver 02 wrx with a carbon hood and black wheels with front Brembos. Also i have an Invidia exhaust which is very loud. I know ive seen plenty of subies around San Jose, Sunnyvale, Santa clara areas. Again thanks for the info and i look forward to seeing you guys.

Mike Warfield at GST is a really good choice. The GST crew have a ton of experience with hundreds of custom set-ups. He's the most experienced tuner out there.

do NOT go to EIP. Save your time and money and go to the best... gst or eq tuning.

No order:

AutoHQ
GST
EQTuning

Besides what everyone else runs around doing the popular... you don't necessarily need an access port, to push out the power or have ez tuning. There are other methods to get reliability and efficiency, don't fall for the common ground of access porting =is the only way
