Tune options ASAP!

I need some type of tune ASAP! I have to drive to work everyday and if I keep running without a tune I'm afraid my motor is going to go out on me again. I have a tune set up for June 11th but I need something to hold me over till then. They say Cobb doesn't have a map for my modifications. What shall I do?

Mods are-
2004 subaru wrx
ej255 block, stock internals
oem heads
full catless turbo back exhaust
unequal length headers and uppipe
ams intake
turbo inlet
bigger hoses for oem intercooler
grimspeed elc. Boost cont.
walbro 255
tgv delete
160 thermostat

Thanks!

Dude - you aren't gonna find anything "on the shelf" for those specific mods.
You are absolutely playing with fire by driving that car with the standard tune. I wouldn't recommend it at all

It sounds to me like you need a rental car until June 11th

Sounds like a time bomb driving on that with a stock tune. Stay out of boost or better yet don't drive it until you get a proper tune.

Word. If you've got an access port I'd get to your closest tuner right now.

For you I think it's a toss up between Ed, Paul and Mike. Give them a call until one can get you in. I'd try Paul first I think in this case.

But I'd be driving VERY carefully and get tuned asap.

my buddy was gonna get a big tune a few months ago and he told me gst or eq i forgot emailed him over a "safety" tune that would allow him to safely drive the car to the tuning shop idk if this is true or not but id give up your tuning shop a call asap

Yeah most of these guys will have a tune you can load that will basically put a boost cap on your car and keep you from blowing it up.

Ok I'm going to keep it off the road. Since i have been driving it a bit, I want to take it to a local machinic to get it checked to make sure I havent done any damage yet. What should I have him check. Compression and such? Thanks

I wouldn't even turn that car on if it's not tuned for those mods, much less DRIVE it. Park it. You have no choice. Hope you haven't already killed it.

Chances are if you've been just chilling in it and cruising to and from work everything is probably ok, if you've put your foot in it a bunch there is a chance of damage.

If your going to have it checked out run a leakdown test to check out the engine and drop the oil and send some off to Blackstone to make sure you haven't started beating the bearings to death.

I am pretty sure either Ed or Paul can probably send you a limp map to get around in the mean time if you have too.

Ya I would not be driving it with those mods at all, call eq tuning and set up and inspection and tune and you should be good to go!

I wouldn't panic yet. As mike said... if you'd mostly stayed out of boost it's probably just find. If you've been out smashing around in it there's a higher chance of damage. I'd just hope for the best for now.

Leak downs are easy for a mechanic to do but it's not going to tell you everything. I'd decide who you're going to have tune it and call them for a limp map. Then drive it out there. They can do the leak down and check for other symptoms... and they'll know what they're looking for.

A regular mechanic can tell you what the leak down means and that's about it... and it'll probably cost you more as I'm sure if you're car is already getting tuned and worked on the leak down won't run you the full hour labor a mechanic is gonna charge you... $90-120.

If you're able to let it sit... that's good too. Just keep out of boost.

yea i havent beat on it too hard. my tune is with ed on the 11th. im just going to park it and hope for the best. i will ask ed about the leak down test and have him do that before we start the tune. its going to cost me 150+ to rent a truck and trailer from uhaul and would be a heart breaker to get there and find out the motor is no good..

Are you doing an open source tune then?

Cause you could probably find an access port for under $250 and he can send you a limp map so you don't have to tow it.

If you haven't been flooring it everywhere I wouldn't stress about it.
