Trip to the Sequoia's - where to go?

The woman and I want to go south to the see the Sequoia's this weekend....where is there a good spot to go?

Figure we'll shoot down to Fresno then head east in the Sequoia Nat'l forest.

Weather looks like it might be crappy, so we might no go.

Anyone been there and if so, what's a good spot?

Last time I went we spend 3 days 2 nights there. I think we covered everything except for the Mist Fall. It's all the way in and a long hike. I was able to find everything on the National Park website and plotted everything into my laptop and just had the printouts with me.

Try the website first, if not I'll try to dig up my list again. Basically just bunch of trees, views, and enjoy the nature.

Oh, there were two caves, I say definitly visit the first one by the entrance. The second one was so so. Also you get to drive through this fallen tress, which was pretty cool. There were few others... Don't really remember at this moment...

jokes on me, sequoia's are redwoods. I thought they weren't but they are. I guess we have both up here on the coast in N.Cali. Hahaha, had to laugh at myself!

lol seriously. The drive up here would be a nicer one than the trip to Fresno, weather excluded. Rain and a little morning ice would be the worst to deal with tho.

It would also be cheaper, as most of the parks around here are free. I wish I had a pic of some REAL real coast redwoods....those in the previous pic are tiny!! Too bad all the tallest ones fall down.....

Hmm....have you thought about Santa Cruz mountains? You could take the back road from Campbell area (not from the Bay, don't remember what it is called) and you come out around the Big Basin Redwoods state park. They are still coastal redwoods tho....so if you want Sequoias it is off to the south east mountains.

Have you been to Armstrong Woods before? Huge hiking areas, tons of redwoods, filmed some of the speeder scenes in empire strikes back there. The drive out there is pretty sweet, then you can hit up bodega bay and highway 1, eat out at the coast. Makes a pretty good day trip for impressing the lady friends.
