Traveling opinions
Traveling opinions
Well, I know this is a Subaru sight, but I thought I would ask for opinions here anyway --
I am planning to spend some time traveling the world starting around June. Maybe 4-6 months or more --
Do I go to South America, Peru, Chile, Argentina, Brazil or,
my housemate and his girlfriend are planning an Australia trip (which I would include Fiji, NZ and Thailand).
I am in debate -- to travel with friends or alone?
I have been to both Australia and Brazil and they are both increadible... but also in the winter months... I have friends in Australia and in South America I could met up with and stay for free at there place.
I would love to do Europe, but it's too expensive and my money would only last 3 months there...
who has been where? Where is your favorite place? travel alone or go with friends? also being the 3rd wheel would suck but I could always split off and do my own thing if I get sick of them.
Anyone done "around the world travel?" how much and where did you go?
mostly I go to the Lonely planet thorn tree, but I thought you guys may give me a different perspective....

first off, you a ba$tard! man, i would give my left arm to travel for that long.
here is what i would consider:
1. how adventurous is your roomie and gf? travelling with them could be a blast, and you could even plan on splitting at certain junctures (leave it tentative so that if you get sick of them you pull the map out and say, "Oh, this is where I planned on taking a little detour!")
2. South America looks epic. I want to go down there to learn the language(s), hike, surf, and do all that kind of stuff. 4-6 months might drag though but who knows
3. Europe is dope. Period. Granted it is more $$$, but there is no other geographical locale where you can see so many different things in such close proximity. You could break it down by sub-region... northern scandinavia, to the eastern bloc countries, down through the mediterranean, and the UK.
4. (Also goes back to #1). If you guys do go to Thailand, I would strongly encourage you to go up to China as well. I have travelled through China twice and it is awesome. I am a white dude and, as long as you pair up with a local speaker / guide, you are good to go. China gets a bad rap but it is actually pretty incredible.
Good luck to you on your plans. Laters!

If I could travel like that, I'd follow the World Rally and F1 circus and see them at the great venues around the world.
I'd also avoid any place that is hot and humid. One's okay, just not both at the same time.

I say pick one or 2 places that are close to eachother and learn everything about the culture, government, and what not. The places that you mentioned sound awesome but I have been to France and I loved it there. I was there for 2 weeks and I dont feel like I got to experience enough. So if anywhere in Europe is an option I say go the route.
Also if you do go with people I say one or 2 other people is good enough. I was with a group of like 150 people and then we were split into smaller groups of like 30, and I wish I would have been there with less people. I could have experienced more!
