Tranny whine

Tranny whine
Anyone really familiar with the 04-05 STI trannys? I've got a whine which creeped up about 6k miles ago, and it was right around my 60k service. After the diff and tranny oil was changed, it got worse? It has subaru extra S in both the diff and tranny.

The weird thing is that it changes with actual speed, not what gear. Its most present in 6th, but if I push in the clutch and switch it to neutral, its still present, and gets quieter as the car slows.

Anyone have any ideas?

I hope that's a typo...Subaru Extra is not LSD oil.

Why do you say that Paul?

Numerous reviews on the LGT boards recommend Extra-S as a great LSD oil.

I say that because Subaru makes an LSD specific oil that meets the spec for -2006 transmissions.

all sti models prior to 2007 are a clutch type diff while the 2007 is a torsen style diff which uses "subaru extra s"
