Hey, I just did what you're trying to do. Went from a '97 modded L to an '02 WRX, and back in an '01 RS now. Guess which one I like the best??
(and no, you're not going to get $9K ... I just bought my '01 RS two weeks ago, and this was how it broke down:
'02 WRX, 48K miles = $14500 (craigslist)
'01 RS, 46K miles = $12500
Yeah, I thought, for an extra $2K I can have a WRX ... so it was a tough decision. Have I regretted it? Hell no! The newer chassis is just too much of a porker IMHO. The old car fits purrrrfect.

I would like a WRX. =X
Too bad I don't have any cash on me. Hahaha....and I love my RS, unless I can trade it for a WRX straight up. Hahaha.

Yo A, thanks for the shout out!
Man, it feels like just yesterday when we were lining up 70 cars for that photo shoot in the Presidio. I was in Japan for a year ... thought about getting a *real* GC8 but ended up with a gull-wing Toyota Sera instead (no regrets!). Anyway, hope to see you and more BAIC guys up in Vancouver sometime ... you know you wanna check out where extinct-in-mainland-USA salmon sushi and Kristin Kreuk come from.
Incidentally, just to keep things on-topic, a decent GC/GM 2.5RS goes for $23,000 up here. Canadian dollars, of course, but that's still $17K US. Too many Chinese kids watching Initial D and playing Gran Turismo decide that they want a GC/GM at any cost, and mommy and daddy bankroll it.
Too bad I can't sell my car in Canada, it'd be a heckuva profit! LOL

Dont really know. This is the first im thinking of selling it. Ive wanted to Drop another engine in for a while now.
No one can tell my what ACTUALLY has to be done. All I get is "its easy" or "just drop it in" but I know it involves alot more than that. Ive done a 383 stroker in a 1987 RX7, 383 stroker blown in a formula 350 Pontiac, and a 350 in a Checy S-10. Just by doing these I know that there is alot more to an engine swap then just dropping it in.
I know I would have to get a Cross Member from a Legacy or WRX and change the clutch.
The car is a 2001 2 door RS Silver Awesome condition except for one dent on the rear quarter panel (basketball
)
What is it worth to you?

Contact Bill, Chris, and Adam at I-Speed ... they are the experts for the engine swap.
