Well I just wanted to tell you that I bought a 02 wrx out of the showroom in october of 01 and have loved it since then. I beat the hell out of it and now 60kmiles later still as strong as ever and since I still do a few mods right now header and turbo back exhaust it kills all those mazda proteges speeds that I come to. And mine is an auto. Long story short you are in a subaru board and I say you should do it you will be happy as hell you did AWD rules you can drive them in the winter and not even worry.

How many miles on your mazda? I think if its a decent amount less than the WRX I would save the money and put a bigger down payment on a new one in a year or two. Its a great car but you will probably be happier if you own it first. STI is probably out of your price range and would most likely be 2 cars down the line instead of next.

As I said in the other thread, I would be wary of a 2002 car with 50,000 miles on it -- and also with that low resale value. Every 2002 WRX I've seen is going for 19k or higher, unless they were wrecked. That one going for 15k has probably been driven into the ground (thats a MINIMUM of 25k a year, more likely 50k miles in 18 months) and wrecked to boot.

I deffinetly agree with zunus. He has a great point. You don't want to go and buy an older car with plenty of miles on it, because you might kick yourself later on down the road because the car isn't worth much because of it being old and having plenty of mileage. I know Subarus are great cars but buying an older with more miles than you car isn't the smartest decision.
