+1 to this.

When I used to Auto-X a lot, I had a Bieffe (sp?) helmet. Closed face. Super light. And HORRIBLE, even for those 45-75 seconds Auto-X runs in cold Monterey/Marina. It would always fog up so bad.

I picked up that Pyrotech for $150 and it's open face. Vision is better. I can more easily wearing glasses. And it's not so stuffy. I'm convinced sound transfers better too.

I picked a helmet that doesn't fog up easily, it was a Bell. I spent about an hour at Wine Country motorsports fogging up helmets in my price range. It's a med price bell nothing super fancy.

You gotta remember, you can end up doing track days in the, 1) rain, 2) cold *** mornings. Of course most places windows are always required down for safety no matter the weather

I gotta say your helmet must be ****ed or you werent wearing a sock if it fogged up in 35 seconds, for me the track seems like a big consideration since you are going for 20 mins at a time. Also I could be wrong but I don't think most places require you to keep your visor down which eliminates the fogging up entirely.

i chose a closed face just because i like to do go karting. Never needed to lower my visor unless it was a bright track day. Also fogging wont be an issue as long as you breathe through your nose.

For the record, I got a mirrored visor because it looks cool. I also have a mustache decal on it.

Oh it will rain.

Weather.com says 90% chance of precipitation, and it's supposed to rain tonight.

Wunderground says 60% chance of rain. But hourly says 10% chance of rain until 9am. Then 50% chain of light rain. By 3-6pm it's pretty much guaranteed.

But it stays around 0.01 inch of rain most of the day until the evening when it "jumps" to 0.04" inches.

I can deal with the cold. Just hope it doesn't get freezing cold and wet/slick.

Yup... as long is your car is mostly stock (with stock interior, no cage) then I'd say go with open face. With my full face, I have to make buck tooth face so my breath doesn't fog the visor. Plus I look stupid trying to drink water from a bottle.

Yes I have a camelbak, and yes I've forgotten to bring it.

That being said, I appreciate having a full face for karting too... no more nasty rentals.

Like someone else said..... Are you going to the track or doing autox. Big difference

If its auto then run any tire is fine.
