Trackday - Gear needed
Planning on doing a track day with the sti very soon and looking for advice

1. What gear is recommended?
2. Where to buy said gear?

There was a thread about this that had a lot of good info in it. I think it was tracking from the South Bay or San Jose or something like that. I'd go find it but I'm on my phone right now.

Here are a few things:

Helmet
Portable chair
Tire pressure gauge
Lots of water/snacks
Appropriate clothing (for weather/condition/etc.) - plan accordingly
Small tool set (doubt you would need this, but doesn't hurt)
Glass cleaner/towels/Rain-X (Rain-X is really useful if there is a chance of rain)
A BIG plastic tub to put that stuff in (this helps with the rain also)

That's to start. If you are going with friends, might want to touch base with them and divide and conquer. I.E. One friend brings a case of water. One friend brings the camping chair, one friend brings the tool set, etc.

Get brake fluid and please do not run generic crap pads.

Helmet.

Oil change before or after.

Tape.

just concentrate on learning your lines. the speed will come later. And if you are looking into mods for the track day here they are:

If there were one change I wish I'd made before my first track day (Laguna) it would be fluid. I had some fade and the stock fluid was nasty when I replaced it.

Ran Thunderhill after changing to RBF600 (and RB slotted front rotors, and CL RC5+ pads) and brakes were strong all day, with a lot of track time.

Getting them mounted today..

Need to get aligned, anyone have suggestions on locations that can align my car tomorrow?
