Back then, AWD in a car over here in the US was rare so a 2-door was even more rare. I think it's only the Celica All-Trac and the GTX that were the 2(or 3) doors.
Or maybe this:

or the Subaru XT.

Oh man - that's an '84 GL-F coupe, fun car but wasn't AWD - it was 4WD. The RX would probably be the most applicable as it's a nice hatchback, turbo, AWD. Most of the previous cars were 4WD which is actually better in the dirt, and cool because you can turn it off when you get on the tarmac.

The Celica came in FWD ('86 and after) and as the All-Trac in AWD from '88-'93. I had a '93 All-Trac, it was one of 82 sent to the states that year. Not all Celicas were AWD, and the All-Tracs are pretty hard to find anymore.

Kyle, don't take this the wrong way... $5k is a bit much for a GTX. Unless it's perfect. No offense.
yeah, i know, but since i dont NEED to sell it for money or space im whoring it out. On CL im advertising it for $6000 so theres a $1000 discount for i-club

Reed Sturetvants GTX4 sale page sold a stock GTX in CA for $6500 so thats what im going from. Plus $5000 is about the money i have into it

im waiting for that rich guy from los altos hills to email me...the one with M5s Porsches etc...

I think this Corolla was a European only body style, but I'm not 100% sure about that. I did see one on a trailer leaving the Rim of the World Rally a couple of years ago, so it seems likely that there is at least one rally car in this country.
