FS: 1988 Mazda 323 GTX AWD-T
Selling my 88 Mazda 323 GTX AWD DOHC 1.6L Turbo (Red with panda-ish black bottom border at wheel level.
The Good:
New transmission with a $1700 receipt and many other receipts
Transmission has been broken in over 1000 miles and babied
no rust.
ONLY 78,XXX miles for a 1988 car!
All stock except HKS catback ($600)
GAB Rally struts, pretty thick and beefy. (not installed)
only 1200 brought to the states.
The Bad:
backseats and rear stripped (30 min to put back together)
crappy re92 tires
sometimes it wont start when you turn the key, so you have to put it in neutral and lunge back and forth lol for some reason it works.
drivers seat has minor wear but excellent adjustibility (6 adjusments i think?)
Digital tach and speedo glitch out sometimes
Red sparco wheel looks pretty worn
just gauging interest since im in no hurry to sell and have free storage for it.
thanks

my original tranny went out with chipped teeth and metal chunks. I bought my friends spare tranny so i have my original one and whatever is still good. so not a full spare.
If you ever need one, USDM ones go for $200-800 and if the USDM ones run out, there are plenty of JDM ones (shorter gear ratio) that would be the same price since there are a few in the states.
and when it doesnt start when i turn the key, i undo the ebrake and put it in neutral and rock the car back a little and it will start. its a pretty reliable way to do it for me, but youd want to find out where the short is.
never really took pics yet, sorry but ill have some by thursday when i get home.
its red with black bottom (like all stock paint jobs) with the original 7 spoke star wheels.
i have a boost gauge and controller too. but all stock, never boosted up, all stock except hks exhaust

heres a more detailed description:
The Good:
Only 78,608 miles
New transmission with a $1700 receipt and many other receipts
Transmission has been broken in over 1000 miles and babied
Previous owner before me has about thousands and thousands of $ in receipts
NEW: Water Pump, Timing Belt, 2 more belts, Coolant, Alternator.
Passes SMOG with super low numbers
i have original transmission and parts, but it isnt a full spare (chipped teeth)
Power windows, digital speedo/tach model, gradient seats (if all this even matters to you)
no rust (besides 2 inches of flaking under the sunroof panel lip (visable only when its open)
Never messed with the "Diff Lock" center console button in fear of wearing the car out.
All stock except HKS catback ($600)
GAB Rally struts, pretty thick and beefy. (not installed) Theyre red GAB "Rally" in white
also have manual boost controller and Autometer Boost guage (CF face, Yellow/white text)
The Bad:
front driver quarter panel got rolled into by parked car which was initially a 4" X 8" size dent,
I took the panel off and smoothed it out best i could, so now its straight with crinkling.
(right on "full time 4wd" sticker)
some scratches and chipped paint, hardly any dings, two dents (barely visable)
one dent on rear bumper (where sticker is) other on passenger side rear pillar (very minor)
re92 tires (safe, but balding)
sometimes it wont start when you turn the key, so you have to put it in neutral and lunge back and forth for some reason it works.
drivers seat has minor wear but excellent adjustibility (6 adjusments i think?)
Digital tach and speedo glitch out sometimes
Red sparco wheel looks pretty worn
Was planning to RallyX but never did, i hardly even taken it into any dirt besides a turnout or two.
These are all minor problems i think. Just trying to get my lost money back while giving you a fresh, well broken in tranny. Not in hurry to sell so $6000 OBO

well its AWD until you push the center diff lock button in the center of the dash.
so you should only use the button when you get stuck, on ice or snow, gravel or really loose conditions. On the street stuff will bind up and break. I never pushed it.
The same AWD system used for when they rallied these (the only reason Mazda sent 1200 to the states)
