I'd wait...
There's going to be a "TRD" edition released. No word yet on what is going to be added but I'm assuming things like:
Suspension upgrade
More power
Tow options
Lights
Bumpers
racks
things of that nature.

- dual manually activated diff lockers
- underside protection (skid plate, rock sliders, etc)
- lower than low transfer case gear
- real (albeit smaller) goodyear wrangler MT/Rs tires
- front and rear solid axles...
dodge ram 2500 power wagon edition:
- front and rear solid axles
- available winch as a factory option
- actual transfer case levers
Now, as an SUV, it looks like a fracking toy. Toy... Toyota. *sigh*
toyota, sell us what you sell to your 3rd world countries...

yawn...
the current FJC has what the TRD oFF ROAD PACKAGE gives: a rear locker.
only thing TRD can do is give a "SPORT" package like a supercharger...

It did the Rubicon in stock form. I'd say it's pretty legit offroad.
I'd get one if I was in the market for an ORV/SUV.

To be realistic, I think if TRD was going to offer a more powerful engine, it might be worth waiting for. It'll get you up the grapevine that much quicker or up 80 on your way to the slopes that much easier.
I drove a 6spd FJ (Rad's FJ) and I have to say, it's a pretty nice car. At first it was a bit strange to drive such a large car in manual, it was intimidating to be honest, but after driving it, it felt very natural. It's got some nice gauges too, just to see how much of an incline you are on etc. It's truly a nice vehicle just for cruising as well.
the X's have been around for a few years.
and their factory support is gigantic!
i think toyota is following suit witih their silly "trail teams" of FJC and people touring the country...
