I'd wait...

There's going to be a "TRD" edition released. No word yet on what is going to be added but I'm assuming things like:
Suspension upgrade
More power
Tow options
Lights
Bumpers
racks
things of that nature.

That would probably jack up the price to over 30k. I'd rather get a base model or lightly optioned version and mod it myself. lol

yes you can, see JEEP RUBICON:
- dual manually activated diff lockers
- underside protection (skid plate, rock sliders, etc)
- lower than low transfer case gear
- real (albeit smaller) goodyear wrangler MT/Rs tires
- front and rear solid axles...

dodge ram 2500 power wagon edition:
- front and rear solid axles
- available winch as a factory option
- actual transfer case levers

Now, as an SUV, it looks like a fracking toy. Toy... Toyota. *sigh*
funny... but really sad at the same time...

toyota, sell us what you sell to your 3rd world countries...

yawn...

the current FJC has what the TRD oFF ROAD PACKAGE gives: a rear locker.

only thing TRD can do is give a "SPORT" package like a supercharger...

It did the Rubicon in stock form. I'd say it's pretty legit offroad.

I'd get one if I was in the market for an ORV/SUV.

hell, anything can be made rubicon ready:

1. they dont own the vehicles.
2. they have support vehicles follwoing them.
3. see #1...

dont get me wrong. i am a toyota fan. i've owned my 90 4runner since 1990... i really applaud toyota for bring this out.

unfortunately, they just asked the wrong people in what they want for a real off road vehicle...

if you wanna see what might have been:

Lets be realistic...

I think a supercharger would be worth waiting for.

To be realistic, I think if TRD was going to offer a more powerful engine, it might be worth waiting for. It'll get you up the grapevine that much quicker or up 80 on your way to the slopes that much easier.

I drove a 6spd FJ (Rad's FJ) and I have to say, it's a pretty nice car. At first it was a bit strange to drive such a large car in manual, it was intimidating to be honest, but after driving it, it felt very natural. It's got some nice gauges too, just to see how much of an incline you are on etc. It's truly a nice vehicle just for cruising as well.
