If you gave one of those to a few of my friends, they'd drive it in to the ground, and the rocks they drove it over would probably be littered with parts. You just can't buy a stock car/truck that is actually fit for offroad driving. Now, as an SUV, it looks like a fracking toy. Toy... Toyota. *sigh*

Thoughts: I hope it's good off-road because otherwise it's just another worthless style accessory. It looks to me as what would happen if a Hummer H2 raped a New Beetle. Although despite it's silly looks, rediculous blindspot and the fact that it's leaning on the heritage of a car that really was good - it IS a Toyota after all so it will probably be a good car.
Nothing beats an original FJ40... Not even a 4Runner in drag.

It did the Rubicon in stock form. I'd say it's pretty legit offroad.
I'd get one if I was in the market for an ORV/SUV.

I like the idea and design of the new fj. It seems fairly trail ready out of the box. I would love to see a turbo diesel in it though for torque and gas milage. Hopefully it is as tough and long lasting as the original FJ! My 82 FJ40 just keeps on going....

A co-worker of mine got one a week or so ago. Loves it still.
looking around in it, it seems pretty sweet. Got decent power, and is smooth on the street (and awesome on dirt roads).

If I was an SUV type person, maybe. For the price I'd rather buy an FJ-40, do a smallblock swap and a few suspension tweaks, and have money leftover. Also you'd have something that was meant to offroad, not a SUVified landcruiser as they have been for many generations.
