Today, I got justice.
The problem with that is, he can call the cops on you, and YOU end up in jail over it. (assult)
Better to use revenge, to act in a way that he can not tie it to you. The key here is fear, make him so afrade you are going to do somthing, that he quits and/or moves from the area.

Leave now.

I agree with the above poster. Walk. Find a job that won't flip the bird to a victim. Now that the guy knows he can steal **** and not be punished for it, he's going to do it again. Do you really want to work around people like that?

first buy a six pack of simpler times (just for the receipt) then a few hours later, quit, say your last words (important) grab a six pack and walk out
"hey thats shoplifting (your name)"
then throw the receipt in his face

watching Jim Breuers walk out scene in half baked might help lol

It was verbal warning.
**UPDATE**
So when I posted last I was ready to walk out the door based entirely on my own feelings, I found it funny that everyone's posts echoed that. I pulled aside that same manager from last night and talked to him about what had just occured when I came in. He was completely outraged and pissed about the entire situation so we took it to the captain.
Before I continue I will discuss the mangement structure of trader joes: There's a Captain, A First Mate and then a fleet of managers under them which all have power over me unfortunately.
Anyway, the Captain was actually kind of alarmed and was not happy with how the manager who reprimanded me handled things and would defiantly be talking to the guy who stole from me. He even said that regardless of how he got the glasses it showed a severe lacking in integrity.
So for the day I THOUGHT it was left at that. About an hour after the Captain leaves, the thief shows up and starts maddogging me out the window, making threatening gestures and generally being a poser. I called up the manager closest to me and as soon as he saw the manager coming towards him he took off. A couple people saw it so I hope they'll actually do something now but it's getting completely ridiculous. I don't see how they can't fire the guy now.
They claim there's not enough hard evidence that he stole them directly but he claimed that he bought them right when I confronted him, then claimed another employee gave them to him then he handed them over finally. That sounds like enough grounds for firing, but we'll see. Tomorrow I'll know more.

Anyone who steals should be fired. That is fair game, this should actually go on his record, and he'll have a tough time trying to find a job with his last job reporting him fired for theft.
I know you're in a small town, but if you're afraid to bring up justice, then you are just asking for something to go wrong again. Just because everyone is all friendly and dandy doesn't make sense to me. As long as you're doing the right thing, you have nothing to worry about.
