i just got some falkins 452 for 520 installed from Big O. The guy made a mistake on the quote and gave me a nice deal on it. When getting tires from those chain stores (Big O, Wheelworks, etc.) call a couple of stores since I have noiced they all vary in price for the same company. Wheel works will match any price I believe but they don't have a warehouse to get the tires from right away. Take a week or so to order the tires you want.

2 seasons ago I head up tahoe almost every weekend, but at that time my car was totally stock. I had the stock RE92s which are crap, but then they did pretty good in the snow. I would say all season tires M+S tires are good if you don't want to spend on getting 2 sets.

how do you get 235s on a wagon without rubbing?

I've got S03s on the wagon currently. I also have brand new Dunlop M3s which i will get mounted on a spare set of rotas for the winter.

I figure, a fender bender (that may have been avoided w/ the right tires) in tahoe is going to cost me essentially the cost of a set of tires and wheels MINIMUM. Even if I didn't have the cash in hand, what better rationale for using a credit card, if not that?

The winter set should last me at least 3 seasons, so it's good insurance.

I have heard a lot of great things about the pzeros. I have a friend with a WRX who is a constant snowboarder. He picked up a set of those on subzeros and a set of summer tires on similar subzeros. Ended up just selling the summer tires because the pzeros did great on the road and in the snow. He doesn't do any track days or anything but is still an enthusiast driver, and used to commute between SF and santa clara for a while.

Myself, I am supposed to head to Reno this weekend and all I have is my 225/40-18 S-02A's (unless I want to drive a Justy to Reno haaaa). In short, if it's snowing, I ain't going...

Sidenote - anyone know what the weather is like up there now?

I had the Falken 451's up till 3 weeks ago. They were amazing in the wet, and very good in the dry. Never put them in snow, but I'm thinking you'd have to be careful. But they tear up those Santa Cruz Mountain roads nicely The 452 is supposed to be better in every way, I would have bought 452's but I wanted to try the 615's for auto-x.

I guess I've become a Falken Fanboi

Lol, yea for now.

The tires are good, but no where near the level of RE070's. I'd say that they are better than the ES100's though.

I'm not sure about the size. And you bastard, I'd be running 225 if I could. Damn 48 offset and superlow ride height. hahahaha

You can run 235's if you have the proper suspension drop and wheels with a +53 offset.

true that.....I might consider that. I'm not a credit card guy though...I don't even have one. I hate debt. I got approved for 0% financing when I bought my car but they wouldn't give it to me because I only had 3 previous debts and they wanted 5.

You can fit 235's without rolling...just can't be dumped...and honestly....there is no reason to be dumped with a subaru in my opinion...jacks up the geometry anyways.

When I roll I'll bump up to an 8 inch rim and some 245s.

When i was lower in the rear I rubbed with 225's. It depends on your set up. Your offset. And what tire you run....each tire is a different true width and height.

I ran 451's on my last car...was a nice tire for sure.

I'll have to check out the 452's.

I was thinking of running 615's next summer.

go on craigslist for a stock wheelset/tire combo

i wouldnt bother getting a do-it-all tire. You can save more money by having a sticky summer set, then a M+S set, and have more fun.

I've driven through a set of Pirelli P-Zero Nero M&S's. Snow, heavy rain, dry. An excellent tire. Only complaint is on dry black stuff they tend to squeal a bit in sharp turns.
