Written declaration is easier to win, because cops don't get paid to do the extra paperwork(they get paid O/T to show up to court), and cops remember faces... how will they know who the heck you are when they get some anonymous contest to a ticket?

If you've already set up a court date, go to the courthouse asap and request a trial by written declaration... you should see the option on the back of your ticket by the way.
