Does CARB certification mean that it conforms with sound regulations or just emissions?

The Greddy Evo may be quiet, but it looks like a huge fart cannon. You were probably pulled over because it looks loud, and nothing like a factory exhaust. Sorry to hear about this, and I hope you get things worked out. Even though it's a pain, it might be worth it to put your factory TBE back on until you get things settled. I wouldn't bother with the UP.

i hve a high flow downpipe and it does make difference as far as sound is concerned. The sound has grown a little loud.

I was on 280 today and there was a cop following me and he did not stop me for the exhaust.

Maybe i got lucky.

i had the helix catless exhaust with this Greedy Evo2. As far as the noise, it's is pretty quiet.

When I go see the judge, do i have to take off both dp and exhaust or just the exhaust?

just the exhaust. with the catless the stoc exhaust will sound different but it is still stock. The judge is not going to put u r car on the lift and check the complte system. Make sure that the heat shield is in place.

i talked to some SJPD about getting my tint/exhaust ticket signed off. he was willing to do it for me, since my friend knows him pretty well, but once he saw the violations, he said he couldn't do anything about it and a judge needed to see the car. he said too many cops sign off their friend's tickets for exhaust and tint and stuff. he also said the only thing he could sign off if a front plate ticket. i was pretty sad after hearing this, but i got someone else to sign it off, and sent off the info to my lawyer.

Yup. My F4i's stock exhaust has a cat - and it is an '02.

There is as much complaining about modification enforcement on the sport bike forums as there is here. The difference is the nature of the mods. Typically, here we get the tint, loud exhaust, underhood etc. On the bike forum it is aftermarket turn signals, removing reflectors, removing fenders - and aftermarket exhausts.

The biggest difference between cars and bikes is that, although the bikes have emissions requirements to meet, there is no bi-annual smog check yet. This may be changing in the mid-term though.
