We all know its BS, but the fact of the matter is cops are going to keep popping us for exhausts, and its only going to get worse with all the attention modified cars are getting nowadays. So do yourselves a favor, take the tint off your front windows, put on your front plate, and run a twin tip exhaust, or else dont be surprised when(not if) you get pulled over, and next time it might involve a hood pop as well
im surprised cuz i ran that exhaust for over a year with no problem. next to cops, behind cops, infront of cops, didnt get hassled at all luckily. but i understand where youre coming from, im running a borla hush now, no tints, and of course sportin the front plate since day one. dont wanna give cops a reason to pull me over at all.

If you KNOW its below the DB limit i would contest it. the key is to have a stock looking exhaust...i just prefer and OEM apperance to avoid any issues...and ur asking for it if u have ricey lights and a huge mellon shooter lol

I should say that you should also have the test done by a ref
before you go to court. Then they'll throw it out. They did mine.

I've been running the MRT full turbo back with only a DP cat just like the picture shown. I don't know how it's so quiet, considering it has no resonator except the muffler, but it's quieter than the Prodrive axleback and similar loudness as the SPT catback.
i got a ticket for modified exhaust the other day too (CVC 22151(a) ) but does your ticket mark *yes* in the check box where it says if the ticket is correctable?
and by the way I had gotten pulled over for no front plate, but the cop didnt even cite me for no front plate and when he walked away he looked at my exhaust and said to his partner " thats a really nice car". I really really don't get it man....

Cops are human too. Some like cars and some don't. That's why it is in your best interest to not be a jerk when he pulls you over. You just make it worse.

I got pulled over by one trying to hassle me. He pulled the "due to your exhaust I have reason to believe your car is illegally modified" He made me start the car up, then looked under the car(thank you 3CE) then asked why I had an aftermarket exhaust on. I told him I crushed the can on the stock exhaust when I was on the beach in Pismo and this exhaust was actually cheaper than the stock exhaust. It wasn't a fib, I actually did dent the can smashing it on a dune, and it is cheaper than the stock exhaust, but the stock can was still ok when I put the hush on(dent wasn't really hurting anything)
He asked why I had such a large hood scoop, my reply was pretty clever "it's a subaru hoodscoop you can look under it to see. He made me pop the hood and looked around, thankfully he didn't know his *** from a hole in the ground, and I do good coverup work. The only thing he spotted were my black silicon IC hoses and asked why I had changed them(didn't even notice it wasn't a stock IC). I told him because the stock ones broke, so he poked around a little more and then closed the hood. PE1820 with divorced WG DP staring right in his face, I suppose the stock heatshield helped, and possibly that I was very polite and wasn't trying to hide anything. If they find anything so be it, but I'm not going to stress about it, you pay to play.

No they are not exempt, bikes must conform to the same noise laws as cars. The emissions stuff is changing and bikes are starting to get cats. I got a modified exhaust ticket on my XR650. It was a fixit so I put the stock pipe back on and got it signed off. But I agree the cops don't stop many loud *** Harleys for noise and they are a hell of a lot louder than my XR.

If he says a CARB Cert. doesn't mean anything, then why do they certify aftermarket exhaust to be legal in CA. Sounds like he is trying to enforce his own laws rather then Ca. State vehicle laws. It would take a lot of self control to bite my lip in court with this judge if he told me my CARB cert. didn't mean anything. I would want to tell him how much of an idiot he is. But then he would find me in contempt and I would be paying somje additional fines.
