I know my brother and law and none of his police buddies do. That's why they don't bother...they have better things to do. They were cracking on CHP so bad last time I saw them. Called them AAA with badges.

Seriously...i'm writing you a ticket for smog violations. I will tell them to find one. Then I'll sign the ticket.

otherwise they can arrest me tow my car away then pay out the *** when I sue them. I hate this...well ummm...I don't know so let the state ref figure it out. Bull**** man. If you don't know...DON'T WRITE THE ****ING TICKET!!!!

It's all a big revenue push.

Seriously....some folks like devon got popped for stuff that was stock. Stock cats. Still got the ticket. So now you have to take the time off of work/school loose money or fall behind in class. Pay the $40 for the ref. Pay the fix it ticket. ETC ETC. Or waste more time and go to court and tell them to shuv it up their ***. What they want is people to just pay the fines and move on. free money for them.

it's seriously getting to a point where someone needs to put up a website database for this crap to compile a list so we can fight back.

What's more important...hmmm...writing tickets....or stopping crime? Arrest some drug dealers or pull over a 19 year old college student with strait A's because his car looks modified? apparently writing tickets.

A website that had scanned copies of the tickets. Video. Written accounts. Followed the cases all the way through the trials processes and what not. Photos of the car and the person. The state would love that. lol.

I totally agree with 'OneMan Army' on this. First thing I'm putting my front plate on and going back to stock intake. I don't want to give any of my hard earned money to the state of calif. for a bs ticket written by a cop that wouldn't even know if my car has been modded. Just the fact that the STI has red intake piping and STI painted on the tmic could lead a cop top think the car is illegal.

I don't have 5k in mods and don't drive like a azz on the street, so me or any other legal subie drivers don't deserve a ticket and a trip to a state ref. Oh and the fee! just to clear up a ticket.

Damn I hate the front plate law. I mean, most cars dont even have holes for them. I got pulled over for no front plate and got lucky. I simply told him the front plate was in the hatch, I had just bought the car and hadnt had time to drill holes in the front bumper to install it. Cop was cool and let me off...

one thing to do is fight this in court.

ESPECIALLY if everything on your car is STOCK.

meaningless if you just even one part not CARB legal.

first, request the record of the officer that stopped you. FREEDOM OF INFORMATION act or just even sub poena should get what kind of cars that officer stopped and ticketed.

analyze the data.

see if the officer/the department are profiling.

analyze to see if import cars more likely to be pulled over for ticky-tac things, and then finding the offending item, vs the domestics.

i for one, would like to do a study on this.

granted, i dont cruise the mustang/camaro/corvette forums so i can only judge what i see on this board.

this is f*cking BS.....I am so sick of hearing all this sh*t. Our gov't spends WAAAAAAAAY more money than they have in the bank, and then turn their financial burden upon its citizens to fix it, such as writing a bunch of BS tix for no other reason than to generate some income, yet, its in the name of "safety" so that makes it legal? F*cking whack!

So if its safety thats the concern......then guess what.....I made my car more powerful incase I get into a (uncontrollable scenario) where the only thing that will SAVE my LIFE is to be able to move my car quickly (such as a psychotic driver trying to shoot at me on the freeway, or ram me off the road). So I guess that means that trying to save my own life is illegal? oh wait, it IS illegal....thats why when a robber breaks into YOUR HOME, and gets the crap beaten out of him when he tries to rape your wife/gf, he can SUE YOU. Gotta love the *** backwards mentality of our lovely lawmakers and governmental types.......

Ok I have a question.

I know you can get an exhaust certified by the state ref if you bring your car in there and it measures 95db or under.

BUT.... say we go in there knowing its under 95db, do they just stick the db meter by the exhaust and measure or do they actually check what you have going the full length of the exhaust to see if its stock cats / high flow cat / catless.

Anyone happen to know, cause mine has to be under 95db and I have 1 high flow cat. I know its not legal but would I be able to go in there and at least get it written off for meeting db requirements?

Maybe someone here who is a good writer can make a good generic letter so we can all write our local congressmen. Perhaps something to do with profiling japanese import cars and not american or european cars. Who knows maybe Ford and GM have spent millions lobbying for the enforcement of illegal modifications on import cars. Import cars kill their bottom line so it would be worth it to them.

Heres a link to find your rep.

For the people that have gone to the ref, is their a wide variety of car makes?

In all honesty they really don't. Why do you think everything says

"For offroad use only."

I looked on their site and read the pending and resolved legislation. Perhaps you should have read what they have passed. They saved spinner wheels in NY!!!! Yay.
