thermostat bolt stripped

So I went to change my thermostat last night, and the two bolts on the bottom came off easily, but the one on the top elbow has the head stripped. I pulled out the radiator fan and got the ratchet down there, but the first try just spun out. I tried it again and it is definitely gone. I am going to try a 3/8s SAE socket on it, but assuming that fails, anyone got any other tips on getting an f'd up bolt out?

Please dont say take off the radiator and drill it out...
