They had a bunch of rebates for it which they were trying to pass as an extra amount for the trade-in. They didn't really want to call it rebate. It actually drove pretty well. Nice sleeper. Take the XRS tags off and have fun

On another note, not to change the subject too much, did anyone look at the Mazda 3? They seem like great cars.

This is hilarious. I sent the local Toyota dealer an e-mail regarding pricing on the Corolla XRS. This is the e-mail I got back...
I guess they don't even know the difference between the models!

At least the Sacto sales guy knew about the car. He let us drive it like we stole it with him in the car. I normally wouldn't do that but he gave us the green light without asking.
I have a tC. its ok. just my daily driver. I used to have a WRX but the insurance companies were rippin me a new a-hole. and I got hit by a drunk driver so I didnt really want to keep the WRX that long.
so I said I would not do anything to it but I put a lot of basic stuff into it.
HIDs
Injen CAI
Axis 19s
tint
trd shocks
trd swaybars
Goldline springs
WR engine equalizer kit
WR grounding kit
tinted side markers and mirror turn signals
* waiting for WR headers
* also waiting for an exhaust thats not ricey but thats gonna be HARD
* maybe a TRD supercharger or some other turbo unless I get a g35 in the next couple of months

The car is bigger, this is a negative to me, than the old protege series, of which I owned for 340K miles, that it replaced and the exterior styling is much nicer. Car is still a dog - they put a slightly bigger engine into a heavier car. I gotta say that when you floor it the engine screams really loudly, but you don't go anywhere - The tC has the same problem, but it's not as loud. The interior doesn't look special, but it has all the little things like map lights etc. The backseat is still microscopic.
The Mazda out-handles the tC hands down, and the exterior styling of the Mazda wagon is way above average. If I was looking for a commuter car though, I think the tC 2 door sedan looks better and is smaller (though heavier) and isn't as noisy.

Nice, I was looking at the 3 too...
For under 20K for a new car there really isn't mcuh out there. The Civic Si I thought of too. The platform is good but the mini-minivan look doesn't appeal to me + the 160hp base RSX engine leaves much to be desired.
