Tell me about Sonoma

OK here's the scoop...I'm in serious talks with an organization in Santa Rosa to take a position there.

Anyone been there or lived there and can tell me about the area?

Good place to live? Too far from the Bay? Are there any nice clothing stores my GF can work at? Etc?

Any help would be great gang and if they finally offer me the position that means I can be a fringe BAIC member!!!

I also might buy an FXT!

Well, if you are talking about sonoma as a county, then i can help. There is also a town called sonoma.

My thoughts on santa rosa:

I live in petaluma, and I like the town a lot. If you are going to be working in santa rosa, then I would suggest living outside of it. Santa Rosa itself is a fairly busy, and in my opinion unpleasent place to live. The city does have a good police force, a good fire department, and I think a good school system but I cannot comment on the last one because I never went to any of their schools. There is the santa rosa junior college there, which is one of the leading community colleges inthe country.

Working there, I would say go ahead. Living there, I would say you are better off moving to windsor, healdsburg, or petaluma.

Part of the reason I don't like santa rosa, is because there are a lot of poor areas, with a lot of gang activity and high crime rates. Aside from that the town does have a lot of nice shops and two great malls, and the downtown area is pretty nice as well..

Go check it out for yourself.

Oh yeah and there is also rhonert park and cotati, but those towns are FULL of 16-25 year old hooligans with nothing better to do than rebel against the law by bumping loud *** music and acting like they are from oakland. The police force in cotati is completely incompetent as well.

I've been living in SR most my life after getting draged off the Big Island at a young age. Traffic has gotten worse. 101 sucks durring rushhour. Rincon Valley is nice. The downtown is pretty busy. 2 malls and plenty of upscale clothing stores around for the GF. If you know what your doing and its not rush hour, you can make it to SF in 1-1 1/2 hours. Weather is not quite as cold as the bay though we get plenty fog in the winter. We do have a distinct lack of any decent plate lunch, L & L, but you will get to experience the joy of In-N-Out Burger. Any more specific questions I'll try to answer.

Thanks guys!

This is good stuff!

Thanks for the alternate towns as well...that helps.

So if I live in the alternate towns...is there major traffic getting into Santa Rosa? The office is on 4th Street.

I'll keep you all informed...I am pretty sure they'll offer it to me.

yeah SR isnt the best place ever.. its decent.. but not great.. pretty town when you are inner city.. i live in Santa rosa off petaluma hill road and i live in the ghetto, but im 21 and i dont really care im renting a house and not an apartment and have no problems in my neighborhood...
dont move to windsor.. you will hate the TRAFFIC going from windsor (healdsburg is north of windsor) to santa rosa.. hwy 101 has statistics of being one of the most busy hwys in the country. due to its horrible nature of constant bottlenecks
check this link from 730am-9am and from 12pm-6pm you will see HELL.
http://go.pressdemocrat.com/traffic/
its a video thing of the heart of hwy 101 in santa rosa.

but anyway live near SR if you are gonna work in SR.. rohnert park has nicer areas.. and so does santa rosa.. just drive around there.. you will be able to see what areas are nice and what areas are not.. PM me if you want more info in specific.. ive lived here 13 years heh.

and a topper is there are great beer bars! damn good beer bars! haha

Sonoma has turned into this stupid little turist trap. I've lived here my whole life and have seen it go from a quiet little town to a place where people go to show off their Ferarris.

OK 10-4 on everything.

I looked at some apartments so far and when I get the offer I'll start throwing out addresses to you guys for approval.

I'm looking to pay about $1,000 a month for rent.

Craigslist For T3h Win. I've always had very good success finding housing around here with craigslist. Also you may want to go to pressdemo.com, housing classifieds in the paper are decent too.

I live in Napa wich is about 20 minutes from somoma and 45 from santa rosa. I really like it here and can't really see myself anywhere else. The climate is nice and you're close to the ocean, the city, and a ton of shopping, but still close enough to take a day trip to the mountains. Plus northern Ca. has some awesome backroads.
